Lauren - Italy Updates

Class of 2015
Teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Italy
Track: Teaching track
Region: Europe
I love to listen, learn, explore, and discuss. I spend as much time outside as possible, because I love God's beautiful creativity and enjoy being active. Baking bread, drinking tea, and sharing stories are among my favorite pastimes. I love laughing and having fun, but I also enjoy great conversations about God and life!

A Special Thank You

This is a photo of my lovely team gearing up for a week of English outreach. Although none of us would be teaching the teenage Italian students, we knew the week ahead was a full one. The first couple weeks of July were dedicated to locally overseeing and engaging in a short term missions trip led by a partnering American church.  Supported by mass amounts of prayer from every source, thirteen teens and three adults eagerly landed in Rome. Their goals, attitudes, and preparation were tools for the great success they experienced during their stay. I've rarely encountered such hardworking… Read more >>

Art Ministry

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

Partnership is a key part of working for God’s kingdom in Rome. Most of our inspiring and effective projects include a collaboration component. This month’s interactive art exhibit proved no different. Our community was blessed by the hard work of a short-term team that visited from Ohio. They created an installation to be taken throughout the city that invites passersby to consider the catalysts and impacts of trafficking. Our ReachGlobal team is highly active in awareness raising and outreach in response to the large prostitution and sex-trafficking problem here. An outstanding artist… Read more >>

What Happens in a Year

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

Around this time last year, I wrote about a delightful weekend retreat we took as a church. This year, as I looked up at the mountains where we stayed I reflected on those that God has moved in my life. This year, we were a group of nearly 90 people. God's presence and activity was undeniable. In three short days we saw people commit their hearts, time, and lives to Christ. We worshiped and rejoiced with humble sincerity. We forged stronger ties as a community and in small groups. Adoration, surrender, and commitment defined our days. All weekend, I rested in the peace of Christ, marveled in… Read more >>

Easter Celebrations

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

I love Easter. This holiday has everything good going for it, most especially celebrating God’s eternal victory over evil. The timing is perfect, coinciding with the blooming spring when hope is tangible. The increased opportunities to talk about Christ and faith makes the whole season even more joyful. The focus on family and friends in the midst of otherwise busy lives is refreshing. This Easter season seemed particularly blessed. In addition to making time for personal devotion, I prayed for extra concentration on the Lord during this time. Conversations naturally turn towards the upcoming… Read more >>

"When nothing remains anymore, what's left?"

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

Wondering about what the locals are doing? Of course, Italian believers are excited to share their faith as are we missionaries. This post celebrates the action taken by my friends and their interest in helping and reaching their neighbors. This week, a Christain college group called GBU is hosting outreach events for the university students. The theme is "When nothing remains anymore, what's left?" I'm so excited for them and for these four evenings of fun and faith! Tonight was the first meeting, and the student leaders are taking on a beautiful responsibility. Let's pray that they can make… Read more >>
