I love Easter. This holiday has everything good going for it, most especially celebrating God’s eternal victory over evil. The timing is perfect, coinciding with the blooming spring when hope is tangible. The increased opportunities to talk about Christ and faith makes the whole season even more joyful. The focus on family and friends in the midst of otherwise busy lives is refreshing.
This Easter season seemed particularly blessed. In addition to making time for personal devotion, I prayed for extra concentration on the Lord during this time. Conversations naturally turn towards the upcoming holiday throughout the week preceding resurrection Sunday. I continue praying for fruits from the discussions my teammates and I had with the various people in our lives.
On top of all the other blessings, this year was incredibly special because my roommates and I decided to host Easter lunch! We asked the guests to prepare a dish to bring, I made some lasagna, and we arranged ourselves on the terrace for an enjoyable afternoon. After our weekly church service we threw open our doors and gathered together for a perfect day. Our group of thirteen had people from 6 different countries, and we were able to celebrate in community even though none of us were in our home city. Our meal was followed by several hours in the park nearby relaxing, chatting, and singing. What a delight to worship our Savior and pass the day in great company.
As the calendar marches on, I hope to live with the joy, hope and praise of Easter reverberating daily in my heart. Let’s pray that conversations continue with the same interest and frequency. Let’s pray that time in community bears fruit within and around us. And let’s praise God tirelessly for giving us life abundant!
