Class of 2015
Teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Italy

Region: Europe
I love to listen, learn, explore, and discuss. I spend as much time outside as possible, because I love God's beautiful creativity and enjoy being active. Baking bread, drinking tea, and sharing stories are among my favorite pastimes. I love laughing and having fun, but I also enjoy great conversations about God and life!

A Change in Seasons

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

A beautiful cornfield borders my backyard. Today, I have the privilege of watching the wind blow through the topmost parts of the stalks. The warmth of the sun suggests that summer hasn't quite given up, but the fading green barely clinging to the deadening husks proves autumn's triumph. After hosting a homemade dessert social for those who've helped me on this journey, my life is reminiscent of the weather. In fact, I’m struggling to determine if my attitude has morphed according to the rain and sun, or if they've coincidentally matched my mood. The dessert thank-you party formed one of… Read more >>

Glimpses of Heaven

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

The doctors said he wouldn’t live past 2 weeks if he was born. After years of signing, he is talking. Though small for his age, he’s running and playing. He achieves grade level marks in most subjects. He is a miracle. But the miraculous life is rarely an easy one. Friends and family have inspired me through stories, hugs, prayers, texts, and more. This process certainly calls for such an outpouring from my support system. I pray I’m a faithful intercessor on their behalf and grateful steward of their blessings. Touched deeply by much of what I heard, I’ve taken on this story of a little boy… Read more >>

Getting Lost

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

I get lost easily. Well, that’s a bit of an understatement. I have absolutely no sense of direction. Getting from Point A to Point B sometimes feels like someone blindfolds me, drops me somewhere I’ve never been, and asks me to find the nearest hotel. Most of my meetings are within twenty minutes of my house. My house in a very small town that I’ve lived in for my entire life. Shameful as this is to admit, I’ve taken unintentional detours on my way to nearly half of my appointments. While some people may find such escapades incredibly irritating, I have found a sweet solace in my… Read more >>

Receiving Kindness

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

I’ve done a great deal of traveling during my transition from college life to preparing for Rome. In this time, I have slept in 11 different beds, eaten in 13 homes, received 36 meals or snacks at the sacrifice of others and shared food with over 100 people. Comparing that to the 1 bed and 7 people I ate with in a typical month at school reveals the extraordinary generosity others have shown me over the past month. As much as I love playing host and enjoy providing mattresses and meals for others, I have sensed God’s goodness in new and profound ways during this season of receiving. All of… Read more >>

Too Soon to Post Again?

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

After a week of training, I am blown away by the people God has brought together in this process. I can honestly say i have never created such deep and sincere relationships so quickly--especially in a group of 20! I would be honored to serve alongside every one of my new friends, and know that this summer will be blessed by the perfect beginning.  I expected to walk out of training entirely exhausted and emotionally wrecked by the fear of reality seeping into my bones. Although my understanding of my tasks has finally come into focus, I am not plagued by a debilitating dose of reality.… Read more >>
