Lauren - Italy Updates

Class of 2015
Teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Italy
Track: Teaching track
Region: Europe
I love to listen, learn, explore, and discuss. I spend as much time outside as possible, because I love God's beautiful creativity and enjoy being active. Baking bread, drinking tea, and sharing stories are among my favorite pastimes. I love laughing and having fun, but I also enjoy great conversations about God and life!

Pray for Saturday!

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

What’s new in ancient Rome? There have been lots of great things happening recently in our community! It’s been such a blessing to see our team growing, working together, and encouraging one another. As we all know, my service focus is English teaching, and things are continuing to go super well. I’m always ready to share stories, thoughts and experiences for anyone interested in hearing more. However, today I want to bring attention to the work my colleagues are doing currently. This Saturday marks the culmination of hours of collaborating and creating a day long event about modern slavery.… Read more >>

Moving Time

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

For those who may not know, I’m house hunting! I love my current location, but the owner wants the space. As much work as it will be to find and settle into a new place, I’m certainly not blind to the potential benefits buried in this curveball. I'm asking God to surprise me in this transition. My roommates have been an immeasurable blessing this year. Since we all need to leave, the ideal is to find a new place together! That’s exciting, because we’d be able to continue together and even make some improvements over our current set-up. Of course, that may not be feasible. At the end of the… Read more >>

Dresses that Fix Messes

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

December. Like many Christians, I love the joyful season of celebrating and awaiting the coming of my perfect King. The baby Jesus who didn't stay in the manger forever, because he had a mission to complete. The crucified Jesus who didn't stay in the grave forever, because he had a mission to complete. Out of gratitude, love, and joy, we sincerely try to participate in the mission of God. So what does that have to do with wearing a dress? There are so many people in this world who live as modern slaves. Whether they are victims of forced labor, sexual exploitation, or war ravaged lands,… Read more >>

Early Thanksgiving

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

There has been a lot going on recently in Rome. With many fall activities, incoming teammates, and constantly growing relationships, I’ve had a packed schedule. Praise God for moments of rest found when I most need them. After an exceptional yet exhausting weekend, I am rested and ready for the remainder of the busy season. Before plunging on ahead, I want to pause to tell you about Saturday. My organization, ReachGlobal, emphasizes Kingdom building unity and partnerships. So we were excited to help when asked by another missions group here in Rome through the U.S. organization Cru. They… Read more >>

Learning and Laughing Together

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

Friday, ReachGlobal concluded the week of conferences and conversation together as European workers. The focus of the meetings was multiplying transformational churches (and figuring out exactly what that means!). Though I was happily looking forward to the time of learning, I had no idea it would be such a delightful event. For one, I loved learning, praising, and praying in English a little. It was nice to interact without any language barriers. As much as I love Italian, every now and then I enjoy diving into complex English and swimming in the linguistic mastery. Mostly, I felt blessed by… Read more >>
