What’s new in ancient Rome? There have been lots of great things happening recently in our community! It’s been such a blessing to see our team growing, working together, and encouraging one another. As we all know, my service focus is English teaching, and things are continuing to go super well. I’m always ready to share stories, thoughts and experiences for anyone interested in hearing more. However, today I want to bring attention to the work my colleagues are doing currently.
This Saturday marks the culmination of hours of collaborating and creating a day long event about modern slavery. Our group seeks to assist women who are victims of trafficking and trapped in prostitution. We aim to spread awareness (remember the Dressember campaign?) and promote prevention practices. There is also a large focus on response and offering options where none may be visible. This is a part of our faith mission, and we believe in holistically healing. So we talk about the love and liberation of Christ. The gospel is more powerful than any individual, and we pray that God works miracles here!
So, there will be lots of locals in attendance on Saturday to learn more and hear about ways to become involved. I can’t wait to see what God works through the lessons and conversations this weekend. The more people understand and the greater number of people participating in this work, the more effective we can be as a group. The magnitude of participants is uplifting! Let’s all join together praying over this activity. We desire God to work in and through every person present. Things are going well so far, so let’s also pray for smoothness in final preparations. May God’s justice and mercy be known and Christ be adored and accepted.
