Seven Month In Reflections- What I'm thankful for ...

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Middle East

I’m currently sitting at a favorite coffe shop of mine run by a team of wokers. I walked here from my house. The skies are sunny and the air is warm. I can tell we are in for some hot and humid months ahead. I ran this morning with one of my teammates and I woke up at 5:45AM to do it! Seven months ago today I arrived in Turkey. One year ago I was taking finals, running my last collegiate race and graduating. In two weeks and two days I will see my family for the first time since September.  What an interesting time of life. In many ways I really do love it here. Cities don’t… Read more >>

A Letter that Keeps Giving

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Middle East

The day I left my father gave me a letter. It was a hard day and in case he would not be able to tell me the words he wanted to say through all of our tears he wanted to make sure I had them. Out of all the letters I have ever received this one has a special place in my heart. Since being here I have read it often. Sometimes it makes me sad and other times it makes me happy. In the sad moments I realize how much I miss getting to be with my dad and family. When I think about how much I miss them sometimes I honestly can't imagine how Jesus felt when it was His time to leave this earth and the… Read more >>

Cleaning Out the Dirt

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Middle East

For as long as I can remember I have always valued things being clean. Everything has a place. Keeping spaces clean and organized is basically  my love language and one of my biggest pet peeves is inviting people into my space if it's not clean.  I don't want people to see my physical dirt, but what about the dirt in my heart? I've recently discovered the difficulty I face in letting other people see the dirt inside of me. I want to take care of things myself and only let people see the clean and put together me. Yet what happens is I start to pretend everything inside is clean and… Read more >>

The Faithfulness of God Strikes Again

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Middle East

Whew! In all honesty it's been a rough couple of months. Moving was HARD and exhausting. There was so much to do and so much to communicate with my housemates, with our landlord and with our movers. The harder I got the more I pushed and pushed. I knew I was getting close to being at the end of my rope, but my goal was to get me and my housemates to our new home. I thought "Once we are there it will all be okay, but until then I can't stop."  Well I found the end of my rope soon after our move. Getting there wasn't the only task, there was also a lot of settling in and fine tuning all… Read more >>

Losing Control Means Remembering Whose Hands It's In

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Middle East

This past week has been an emotional one.  I have never seen nor felt such an immediate impact by a policy our own government has enacted as I have this past week. By no means do I want to make this a post about politics. Instead I simply want to shed some light on what I am experiencing on the other side of the Atlantic and call us as a body of believers to pray even when we don't understand.  Two weeks ago today I had the opportunity to work with a group of local refugee believers. It was the most amazing week I have yet experienced while being here. I got to disciple a lot of the… Read more >>
