Christmas Party

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

A huge highlight of my December was the opportunity to visit a local refugee camp for a Christmas party.   My teammates regularly visit, but it was my first time.  As a conscientious person, I tend to think about unexpected ways we can serve people and trying to become aware of ineffective ways of serving.  There’s pros and cons to this, but in this situation, it was pretty much just going to cause me to overthink all of my actions.  Thank goodness for the sweet woman I was sitting next to on the drive over who revealed her attitude for the night.  “Just do… Read more >>

Six Weeks In

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

Oh look, I found my café :) I have already exceeded the longest amount of time I have ever been away from home! Every day there seems to be something huge and new. I am still in the process of setting a life pace.  The hardest thing so far has been that basic things seem to take a lot of effort.  Going to the post office feels like going to the DMV.  Paying for and bagging groceries is supposed to be done ultra quickly! In Budapest!

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

I am here!  Today I went all over the city in a light mist of drizzle:) Thank you so much for everyone that is joining me in this season through prayer, financial support, encouragement, and for following along.  I have been humbled and blown away by the care and devotion that has been committed to what God is doing in Hungary.  I have been grappling with this idea of the layers involved in learning or experience.  For example, reading the New Testament is richer in the context of the Old Testament.  Reading the bible is richer if you get to know the cultural context… Read more >>

Support Summer

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

This is my favorite new person in the world, my niece Eleanor!  The photo was taken on my birthday; we went to one of my favorite Irish restaurant nearby and courageously took the new born along.  They were so accommodating and gave us our own back room!  It was a perfect day and I was so thankful we could all be together out to dinner! This summer was a huge learning process; my support team has been coming together more and more each day.  I am so encouraged to say I have received about half of my start up costs and my… Read more >>

How Rachel Platten Has Helped Me This Summer

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

You may be wondering: What do all of these songs have in common?   This summer as I have been driving back and forth from support meetings, I have become much more “in tune” with today’s radio hits.  Although these songs were probably not meant to inspire me with biblical relevance, there are some powerful lines that remind me of Christ’s truth.   Romans 12 talks about the renewal of our minds and what it looks like to love as Christ calls us to love.  As I reflect on these scriptures, it has been hard for me to not find biblical messages in the more unlikely of… Read more >>
