My letter to future Goers

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

Dear future Goers, It is bittersweet to be writing my final blog post as I carry deep joy to have been able to see what God had done these past two years, with sadness as my time in Budapest has come to an end.  Biggest lessons learned  At the end of two years I take away three major lessons.  First, God has shown me that He provides for me much more than I would have ever imagined He would.  I came to Budapest knowing no one, joining a team that ended up being a spectacular fit, each new connection or friend felt like a miraculous gift from God, and it was truly a gift to… Read more >>

Wrong way to the beach girls

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

This summer I was able to go to Croatia for a holiday with some teammates.  We were staying in the beautiful coastal town of Split.  One would not anticipate the possibility of getting lost on our way to the beach, but it happened both times we ventured toward a place of rest by the sea.  The first time we discovered the power of groupthink and dehydration, as us three grown women rationalized an unnecessary uphill hike in search of waterside relaxation.  After we realized there was no easy way down, we turned around, nourished ourselves with lunch and some lemonade and… Read more >>

Táncolj! Dance!

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

Right now God is calling me to learn how to dance.  Not actual dancing, but dance as an attitude, or posture towards life.  Right now God is teaching me that he doesn’t need me to do anything, but if I follow his lead, he is inviting me to be a vessel of his grace and witness the glory of his grace through my act of obedience in extending grace.  I am sorry for that wording, but that is the only way I know how to say that right now.  I am allowed to stay comfortable and pay close attention to keeping everything in order.  However, I feel called to less clean-cut… Read more >>

Bible Museum

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

I may be out of school, but I still have a special place in my heart for field trips! The Art History class I have been attending took a field trip to see the current temporary exhibition at a bible museum.  I have been attending the English speaking class, so this was the first time I was able to meet the Hungarian students.  I was in Art Heaven when we went around the room and had everyone speak about a piece that stuck out to them.  There were two main walls in the gallery.  On one wall there were pieces related to the Old Testament, and on the other side, the New… Read more >>

Today In Art History Class

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

In Art History class today we discussed Bill Viola’s ‘Martyrs’ piece, on loan by the Tate to the St. Paul Cathedral in London.  He was commissioned to replace a previous artwork from the cathedral that had a similar theme.  The work is a four panel video series displaying martyrdom by the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water.  It is a striking work that promotes contemplation of what one would be willing to die for.  It connects the uncontrollable forces of nature with the uncontrollable strength of fierce faithfulness to a cause through martyrdom.  The video is… Read more >>
