This Month In The Gallery: My Artwork!

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

This April my artwork will be on display in our gallery space.  I make portrait installations of news anchors and commentators to question our reliance on media literacy to reflect the status of the rest of the world.  It has been a joy to share my work in this art-loving city.  Take a look at my artwork on my website here. “Thank you, byyyye!”

“Thank you, byyyye!” I was in a Starbucks, reflecting on the past month, deciding what to blog about, and the topic just came to me!  It was close to closing time and the store was quiet.  The two baristas at the front of the store were hanging out, and had been speaking in Hungarian together as usually.  In Hungary, it’s pretty rude not to say hello and goodbye when you enter and leave stores.  In the states I really didn’t think twice about saying goodbye when I left places, but it is a social norm that I admire here.  Amidst the hum of ambient Hungarian speaking… Read more >>

Gilded Wounds

Watching the days from our big advent calendar in the coffeehouse gallery get “x”ed off with bold black… Read more >>

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

Every week after the sermon at church, we split up into English-speaking and Hungarian-speaking groups to talk about a particular question that sometimes relates to the teaching.  This week the discussion prompt was something like, “Share a passage of scripture that has impacted your worldview for better or worse.”  People shared stories of grief, encouragement and challenge.  Some people did not even use scripture, but instead referred to ideas from impactful musical lyrics or compelling stories from philosophic literature. This is testimony! The definition of the testimony I… Read more >>
