Family Visitors
I had the huge privilege of hosting some of my family for a visit this past month. My brother came for a few days and then my mom and her cousin joined us. Our time together overlapped perfectly to be together for my mom’s birthday! I’m so thankful we were able to celebrate together. It was strange to be in the tour guide role since I’ve been the one being shown around and exploring for myself up until this visit. Poem: Branches, Roots And Shadows
Branches, roots and shadows All a part of a tree The shape of the branches interact with the light that is present and casts a shadow. Branches reflect the root system The shadow can only grow as the branches and roots take shape and grow It is all a tree except for the shadow, which is just the shape cast by its form. Taizé
In early March, I was able to visit Taizé with one of my teammates. Taizé is an ecumenical monastic order in France. Catholic and Protestant backgrounds are represented and they provide a space for retreat. There is prayer 3 times a day with a diverse international community, a daily lecture, small discussion groups and specialized evening workshops.
