My Letter to Future Goers

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

My Letter to Future Goers Hello dear Goers, friends, whomever might read this blog post! I am sorry for not writing here for more than half a year, I promise that I have been writing newsletters! I am writing this post from a café in Duluth, MN my hometown. Although it is hard to believe I have been back in the States for a month now. I just did Reach Global’s (my sending organization) debriefing this past week and admittedly it all kind of feels like a dream. Before leaving Budapest I couldn’t come to terms with the fact that I was leaving Hungary possibly forever, but now that I am here it… Read more >>

Winter Updates

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

The past few months have been crazy and exciting. I was able to go home to the States for a couple weeks over the holidays, which was absolutely wonderful, and I had some guests including my sister here in Hungary!  I feel very blessed to live in a time when international travel is so easy and it is possible to live here and yet still see loved ones back home.  Since being back here and ‘back to work’ I have seen a lot of good things happening. For one thing I really feel like relationships at the little Hungarian church that I am attending are growing. Just this week I went to the… Read more >>

Refugees in Budapest

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

So first I want to start with an apology for not blogging in such a long time! Admittedly I felt that I needed to write something about the refugee situation because everyone was talking about it and asking me for my opinion, but I didn’t know where to start. I think I have been avoiding writing about it mostly because I felt overwhelmed by the wide diversity of views and responses to the issue even when we are talking about just Christians. That said it has now been a couple of months since the peak of the crisis (at least as far as people waiting at train stations here in Budapest) and I… Read more >>

A New Semester and a New Apartment

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

So many things have happened during the month of August and the start of September! First of all Noémi and I found an apartment! It is totally by God’s planning because after looking at a bunch of apartments that were too expensive, really small or without much light, a friend of Noémi’s recommended this one to us.  It was perfect for our budget, has plenty of sun and it is right across from the high school where Katie and I teach an English club! I am once again astounded by God’s provision and excited to see how living so close to the school will give me more opportunity to build… Read more >>

Summer Camps and Europe Conference

By on Track: Teaching Region: Europe

The month of July has simply flown by! It was a fun and successful camp season with two weeks of kids camp followed by two weeks of teen camp. Kids camp looks kind of like a hybrid of VBS and English language camp. The kids learn fun songs with motions (which all of us still have stuck in our heads), have a daily teaching, game time, craft time, and of course a couple hours of English learning.  They also earn points by memorizing Bible verses, participating in class, having good manners, ect that they can use at the end of the week at the camp store. The teen camp is a little less… Read more >>
