So many things have happened during the month of August and the start of September! First of all Noémi and I found an apartment! It is totally by God’s planning because after looking at a bunch of apartments that were too expensive, really small or without much light, a friend of Noémi’s recommended this one to us. It was perfect for our budget, has plenty of sun and it is right across from the high school where Katie and I teach an English club! I am once again astounded by God’s provision and excited to see how living so close to the school will give me more opportunity to build relationships with the families here!
As part of moving to a new place in the city, I am also in the process of exploring the possibility of attending a new church. (It would take me over an hour each way to get to the church I have been attending!) It is both an exciting feeling to explore what is happening in my new area of the city, but also a little sad to feel like I am starting over building new relationships and trying to get involved in a new church community. Please pray that I will soon find a place that can be my new church home.
During the last couple weeks of summer I was also able to take a couple of short weekend trips. I went to Bükk National Park with my friend Fanny and went to Pápa, Hungary with my now roommate Noémi. The picture above is rowing on a small lake during our trip to Bükk!
Another big piece of the past month has been language school. I squeezed in a class before my English clubs started and although it was a lot of work, I feel like it jump-started my brain again after a busy summer. I feel like I am thinking a little more in Hungarian and I have had a lot of people tell me how much I improved over the summer which is always a nice confidence boost.
Finally English Clubs have started again for the semester. We had an especially good start at the high school with over 50 parents showing up for the opening night! I am very excited to see how God leads this semester and am looking for opportunities to build stronger ties between the English Clubs and the church that we partner with. Please pray that our team is able to really love on and build relationship with these families and that God continues to provide opportunities for us to share about the hope that we have.
I know that some of you have asked for specific updates about the refugee crisis and am going to write a little bit about that is another post!
