Winter Updates

Posted on Tuesday, February 23, 2016

The past few months have been crazy and exciting. I was able to go home to the States for a couple weeks over the holidays, which was absolutely wonderful, and I had some guests including my sister here in Hungary!  I feel very blessed to live in a time when international travel is so easy and it is possible to live here and yet still see loved ones back home.

Since being back here and ‘back to work’ I have seen a lot of good things happening. For one thing I really feel like relationships at the little Hungarian church that I am attending are growing. Just this week I went to the women’s Bible study and spent the night at a church leader’s home with some other young women.  Everyone at the church continues to be so welcoming and I am so blessed to get to worship together with them.

We also have started the student prayer group at the university again.  Right now there are five girls who are interested in coming and one Christian professor whom I just met. So far only two of the girls, the professor and I have been able to meet since everyone has different and complicated class schedules, so you can pray for the right meeting time and place for us. Also when we met last week we talked about doing an evening meal and prayer time maybe one weekend a month and hopefully even those who can’t come during the week could come then.

All of the English clubs and Bible studies have started again for the semester. We have made a few small changes, especially to the parent English club that meets at the high school to make the clubs feel more like a club where everyone has some ownership and participates and less like a class where they just come and learn.  I hope that the participants really embrace these changes and that there is more of a feeling of community.  I am also really excited that all three of the moms who came regularly to the Thursday morning Bible study have chosen to continue this spring. Please pray that God would continue to soften all of our hearts and that He would draw the two women who don’t know him closer to Himself.

The last thing that I want to mention is the upcoming Hungary Summit.  The Summit is a five-day conference highlighting what God is doing here in Budapest. Several different Hungarian Christian organizations and churches will attend it as well as a number of churches from the States. Please pray that God would be present during the conference, that many good stories of God at work would be shared and that there would be a greater sense of community among the Christians in this city.

Thank you, for your prayers and support! If you don’t get my newsletters and want to, please email me at [email protected]

God Bless,

Liz
