1 Year on the Field

Featured story By Fiona on Track: Business Region: Middle East

Three homes, hundreds of hours of Arabic, many pounds of bread, and more than a few meltdowns. It has taken far longer than I planned to write this update, but here is my best attempt to sum it all up.  Seeing my Worth The clearest place I can see God’s work over the past year is in my identity. I have struggled a lot in a job without clear daily tasks or measures of success, working with people whose openness to the gospel is frequently compared to hard, rocky soil. Who am I on days when all I accomplish is getting groceries, because that task alone took hours and left me completely… Read more

My Letter to Future Goers: Reflections from the Balkans

Featured story By Nathan on Track: Business Region: Europe

When I first arrived in Bulgaria, I knew that the 2 years would be fun and exciting but also challenging and difficult. I’m still processing my time there but overall here are just some of my thoughts and small bits of advice. Just like everyone else in life, there were seasons of highs and lows - however, being on a specific team with the same goals and desires to serve and minister to Bulgaria was one of the most grounding aspects of my time overseas in missions. Much of my struggles came from either miscommunication or misaligned expectations. Try to do your best to eliminate both of these… Read more

This Road So Far

Featured story By Cindy on Track: Business Region: Middle East

My name is Cindy, and I’m a Goer! I graduated college in May with a degree in Business Administration and I am going to use it overseas. I am using my business degree in the Middle East to work and live among people that don’t know Jesus or have access to the Gospel. Through a small business, we are able to build relationships with locals and point them to Jesus.  Choosing to move to the Middle East did not happen overnight; rather, this story is God’s story that He has been writing in my life since elementary school. His patient, guiding hand has led me down this road so far.  I… Read more

Why would God Choose Me?

By Mei on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Asia - South East

I am Mei, a 22-year-old college grad moving to Southeast Asia to advocate for women in the Red Light Districts. As a former missionary kid, I call many places home (including California, Kenya, and Utah). I am a double major in Art & Honors Humanities with a DEEP love and curiosity for the Bible. My purpose in life? To love God, love others, and look less like me and more like Jesus every day. As I go to Southeast Asia, I long to image Jesus in His incarnational, holistic ministry to those who don’t know Him yet. I’m passionate about the redemption of God's children from shame to… Read more

Nothing but Jesus...

By Paige on Track: Ministry Region: Asia - Central

“And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2: 1-5   As I conclude my Go Week training in Minnesota, I am more convinced than ever that I CANNOT do any of this… Read more

Why go?

Featured story By Anna on Track: Teaching Region: Asia - East

Two years ago I left the US nervous and excited for a new adventure as a recent grad. I felt unsure in my skills and honestly shocked that the Father had opened doors for me to do work I had only dreamed of. Teaching English and helping students grow for the past two years has been a joy and blessing beyond what I could have expected. I have grown in my walk with the Father, grown as a professional, and feel so much more capable and confident to navigate life - all because of the Father and the people he placed around me in my time with GoCorps.  Building relationships and loving… Read more

Peace Be Still

By Lauryn on Track: Medical Region: Asia - South East

For the first time in the many months of outreaches, no village could take us or they continued to cancel. I wore every no and cancelation, because we had asked for a break but we were asked to continue. I was afraid of the thoughts of the team and those in leadership over me. I was afraid of their disappointment. This was a very lonely and anxious time as I feared man. I lost the vision of why I am here and even why I am in this position. It’s crazy to think something so simple and out of my control made me falter so much. I didn’t even know how far away my vision of… Read more

Spiritual Darkness and Counting the Cost

By Fiona on Track: Business Region: Middle East

For the last 3 months, I’ve been learning Arabic with an MBB (Muslim Background Believer) teacher. I’ve gotten to hear her testimony and share a simple version of mine in Arabic. She asks lots of questions about what Christians in America think about different topics. One conversation that comes up a lot is her desire to leave her country. She lives with her parents, and none of her family or non-believing friends knows she is a believer. She was reading the word with a foreigner friend and going to gatherings sometimes, but quit out of fear that someone would report her when her parents… Read more

Finding Jesus. Losing Work?

By Neika on Track: Youth Development Region: Africa - Sub-Saharan

I enjoy work! Laugh loud; I know it is hard to believe of someone in Generation Z. It is true, though; I like to have an occupation, something to direct my focus on. It can be a good book, a spreadsheet full of numbers, or a hole to be dug; I simply like to be doing. In the ministry field, there is more than enough to do, and all too often one looks up just long enough to see that they have been sucked into the whirlpool of doing. As much as I enjoy doing and admire the veracity that I see in others as they work for the Kingdom I can’t help but notice the lack of rest. But what does rest look… Read more

trusting in the slow work of God

By Christine on Track: Arts Region: Europe

The work of God is slow. It is something I am constantly learning. Despite only being in this new country for a couple months, I feel the temptation to rush and hurry— getting frustrated when language isn't where I want it to be at, at times feeling dissatisfied with my progress in forming relationships with locals, and a constant desire to get things done and check off things on my to-do list. It is in these moments that I am reminded of the verse from Psalm 46. To be still and know that He is God. I am comforted by the fact that God is always at work, and is doing a good work in me. That my… Read more
