Nothing but Jesus...

Posted on Friday, September 13, 2024

“And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

1 Corinthians 2: 1-5

As I conclude my Go Week training in Minnesota, I am more convinced than ever that I CANNOT do any of this alone. I desperately need the power of God to strengthen me, and the support of my friends, family, and leaders to empower me. Preparing to move overseas is not simple… crazy concept, I know. There are many details and tasks required of me every single day in order to be launched in the Spring. If I could describe it metaphorically, it feels like I got overly ambitious and tried to carry all the groceries from the car to the house in one trip. I can be stubborn by nature, but in this process I am daily reminded of my deep need for a humble heart. Maybe instead I could have taken multiple trips? Better yet, maybe I could have asked for help? Despite the challenges, I am on a beautiful journey. I need Jesus to do this work. I need His kindness, His patience, His joy, His gentle spirit. I need the Holy Spirit to comfort me and to empower me into action. I need the Father’s love. I am so grateful to be drawn closer to the Holy One everyday and to be desperately needy for Him! My prayer is that I keep Jesus at the center of it all. I am so grateful that the Go Corps staff and my fellow Goer’s carry the same heart posture.

I am resting in 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 today, and everyday to be honest. This scripture describes exactly how I feel right now. At the end of the day, I know NOTHING… like literally nothing… except for my Savior Jesus Christ, and his crucifixion that brought me into freedom! I am choosing to approach each day with humility of heart and mind. Whether that’s in my calls, appointments, serving at my local church, or just chatting with a neighbor. I am humbled by the Lord’s graciousness towards me in the process. I look forward to keeping Jesus at the center of my fundraising season, knowing that He will pursue me in return, protect me, and provide for me.

Thank you for reading, friends!
