Two years ago I left the US nervous and excited for a new adventure as a recent grad. I felt unsure in my skills and honestly shocked that the Father had opened doors for me to do work I had only dreamed of. Teaching English and helping students grow for the past two years has been a joy and blessing beyond what I could have expected. I have grown in my walk with the Father, grown as a professional, and feel so much more capable and confident to navigate life - all because of the Father and the people he placed around me in my time with GoCorps.
Building relationships and loving students is my favorite part of teaching. To be able to listen to them, hear about their lives and support them is such a work of love and care. I am always encouraged and pushed on by the knowledge that I’m oftentimes getting the opportunity to share the love of the father through my actions - and it is the first time they have ever encountered it. Sharing the truth takes time in my area, sometimes years of relationship building, but the father has been good in providing an encouraging team both in my city and in the states, as well as a long term vision and heart in myself for the people in my community.
And now even though my time with GoCorps has come to an end, it has helped to cement in my heart a passion for overseas work for a lifetime, no matter where I live. I’m currently wrapping up a few weeks in the US with family, my bags packed and ticket secured to go back and continue my work after two years. And that is not always what the Father calls goers to, but it was in his plan for me. So if you are reading this and thinking about serving overseas ask yourself this: “if not me then who?” There are so many people and so many places that need the love of the Father and to hear the truth and not enough workers! If the Father is calling you to serve overseas, and with GoCorps, he’s already got every moment of your next two years lined up, so seek to stay in His will and you’re golden :)
I know it's scary and hard, but the Father has blessed my obedience with some of the best times of my life (hardest too, lol but that's what life is!).
Lots of love,
Anna
