Táncolj! Dance!

Posted on Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Right now God is calling me to learn how to dance.  Not actual dancing, but dance as an attitude, or posture towards life.  Right now God is teaching me that he doesn’t need me to do anything, but if I follow his lead, he is inviting me to be a vessel of his grace and witness the glory of his grace through my act of obedience in extending grace.  I am sorry for that wording, but that is the only way I know how to say that right now.  I am allowed to stay comfortable and pay close attention to keeping everything in order.  However, I feel called to less clean-cut endeavors.  Following God sometimes feels more like a commitment out of love to stumble along, mess up, get back up, repeat, rather than a steady upward hike.  More times than not, I step out in faith, my personal perspective is that it goes fine because I was so prepared, I then extensively reflect and determine how to improve upon said task or experience for next time.  Really wild stuff!  But then I realize, my work here is hardly ever dependent on my own abilities.  I believe God greatly exceeds my preparation.  He is with me always, no matter how prepared or competent I am, and is at work far beyond my own efforts.  Thankfully, my time in Hungary has consisted of endless new experiences.  I am still frequently in situations where I am vulnerably navigating basic tasks for the first time.  I’m afraid this heavy desire to calculate and prepare for everything is a part of my personality.  But, that extensive calculation and preparation is no way to dance.  I want to dance. I pray that God will teach me and all the other perfectionists out there how to dance with him.
