Window Dressing

By on Track: Medical Region: Asia - South East

Sometimes you have to go see the world to know there is nothing new under the sun and everything you were looking for was at home in the same small town you grew up in. With the friends who never left and the family you can now truly appreciate. The rest is just window dressing. But I’m thankful I did. I am now more content with the simplest of things like having people to love and drinking clean water out of my hose. To walk alone in a grocery store and drive my own car through a fast food line. To have access to my family at all times, not searching different places on a hill just… Read more >>

Joy within trial

By on Track: Medical Region: Asia - South East

I have been in training for the last two and a half months. This week is our last week before heading to the mission field for the next year and a half. Last week I ended up getting quite sick which became the biggest blessing. I've been struggling since saying yes to this and most especially these last six months. So, for the first time in a long time, I had to sit in my bed and just rest. The LORD met me here in such a unique way. You see I have been carrying so much in hopes that the LORD would magically heal me. But this past week for the first time I understood Paul when he… Read more >>

Learning and Growing

Honestly, coming here really shook my faith, which was needed. I think for so long in the back of my head has been this fear that I would give my life to the LORD out on the mission field or just living at home and wake up one day no longer believing in His goodness. This has been something on my mind for quite some time that I’ve just shoved aside and tried not to think about. However, this past week the LORD brought it back up. We have a culture of Christianity. To just believe God is this genie in the sky who lets us do whatever we want as long as we attend church on Sundays or read our… Read more >>

Crossing Cultures

By on Track: Medical Region: Asia - South East

No matter where you are in the world, you have a culture. We all view the world through our culture and experiences. In training, we are learning how to be aware of other cultures by knowing our own. When entering another country, you will encounter different cultural preferences. However, if we are unaware of the basic cultural differences, we can actually cause much harm and frustration, especially if we don't come into conversation with humility. For example, in America, we are taught that looking someone in the eye is a sign of respect. Meanwhile, in China, eye contact is… Read more >>

Preparing for Departure

By on Track: Medical Region: Asia - South East

I have been thinking about this day for almost a year. How would I feel? Would the nerves overtake the excitement? I am still unsure of all that the day will hold but the Lord has been so faithful even when it hasn't always felt like it. As the day draws near for departure so does the Father.    This is my last full week with my family before I leave. I said "See you later" to my college friends and shared many lasting memories with those I love. After so many goodbyes I began seeing this day as one of fear, one of leaving behind loved ones, missing out on experiences,… Read more >>
