Honestly, coming here really shook my faith, which was needed. I think for so long in the back of my head has been this fear that I would give my life to the LORD out on the mission field or just living at home and wake up one day no longer believing in His goodness. This has been something on my mind for quite some time that I’ve just shoved aside and tried not to think about. However, this past week the LORD brought it back up.
We have a culture of Christianity. To just believe God is this genie in the sky who lets us do whatever we want as long as we attend church on Sundays or read our bible just enough to keep Him from really looking at me or asking me to do something I don’t want to. We can even go to church or get in the Word not because we truly love the LORD and are in a relationship with Him, but because we are hurt and want a little spiritual bandaid. (Don’t hear what I am not saying, we should run to the LORD for everything in our hurts, disappointments, joys, etc. Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”)
But we aren’t really committed to a relationship. This past week the LORD sat with me, as He always graciously does, and gave me truth. He said, “Lauryn I am the truth, whether you chose Me or not I will remain rested with the same authority as before. I love you that’s why in Luke 12:32-34 [“32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 33Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”] I desire to show you this my daughter, I desire to share my love with you. I do not withhold good.”
So, GOD is truth. Truth is consistent. It is either truth or it is not there is no in-between. What I think about it doesn’t matter( it is important what I think of Him for my own life but it will never change Him) He is consistent. His heart for me will never change because He can not change because to change would be a sign of imperfection which He does not have. I have so much to learn but thankfully He is a good good Father and when starting a good work He will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6)
So the question is, do we truly believe He is the truth? Do we truly believe what we know of His character?
