I have been in training for the last two and a half months. This week is our last week before heading to the mission field for the next year and a half. Last week I ended up getting quite sick which became the biggest blessing. I've been struggling since saying yes to this and most especially these last six months. So, for the first time in a long time, I had to sit in my bed and just rest. The LORD met me here in such a unique way. You see I have been carrying so much in hopes that the LORD would magically heal me. But this past week for the first time I understood Paul when he said we are to have joy in tribulation. I can only choose to be joyful if I know, believe, and trust the God of the universe. We serve the God of order, not of chaos. He is peacefully sitting on His throne with the whole world in His hands. He is at complete rest in His power and authority. No one and nothing can even try to take it from Him. That is the God I serve. So when I feel anxious or worried about the future I am reminded of his permanence and consistency in His love and authority. Last week, just really showed me a new intimacy with Him and I am so excited for what these next two years will hold and who I will grow to be now that He has unlocked a new part of my heart.
In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul talks about a thorn in his flesh. He begs GOD for three days to take it away and when He doesn't. God tells Paul "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”Paul comes to a new revelation, Paul will now boast of his weakness and persecutions. This is the kind of faith and trust I hope to have in the LORD. To know His character so well that when things don't go my way I know they are going His. To know He is not withholding good, and whatever I am going through is needed and for my good.
