New in the Neighborhood 6/1

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

We have now been in Nicaragua a little over a month, and in many ways are still adjusting to the new rhythms of life here. On May 5th, we moved in to a new rental house that we will call home for the next year. We are so grateful for this place and love the fact that everything is so close. Our daily commute is a 3-block walk to the office, the grocery store is 5 blocks, and the soccer field is only 1 block away. These last few weeks have been a slow process of making it “our own”. One thing that helps it feel more like home is getting to know our neighbors. While walking home on one of our… Read more >>

We're Here! 4/11

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

We wanted to update all of you that Brian and I have arrived safely in Masatepe, Nicaragua five days ago! We had safe travels and have been greeted many times by Nicaraguans saying “estás en casa”, which means “you are home.” The pace of life here is much slower than we are used to. In a good way, Brian and I have both felt like we’ve been here much longer than we actually have. Our travel plans were a bit last-minute, but we were able to re-work our budget so that we could leave now and finish the remainder of our support raising remotely from Nicaragua. We appreciate your continued prayers… Read more >>

Finishing Strong 3/11

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

Thank you SO much for your prayers and encouragement over these last few months as we prepare to head to Nicaragua! Right now, we are at about 86% of our monthly support raising goal! Our team leader (Brandon) lives stateside and will be making a trip to Nicaragua on April 7th. We are hopeful and praying that we will be able to reach our funding goal in the next week or two so that we can align our arrival with his. Coordinating our arrivals would be helpful for Nique and I to make the transition easier, and would also be a benefit to our team in a number of practical ways. We recently… Read more >>

Almost There

Happy [very late] New Year from the Watters! We hope that you enjoyed this season with those you love. We got to be with family in the cities and in Duluth for Christmas and also spent time at a Cabin in Crosslake, MN. It is a special time to be together, and we are embracing it a little extra this year. It will be our last Christmas with snow for at least two years! The reality of leaving so soon is starting to sink in, and we recently had to say our first official “goodbyes” to a few family members that live in other states. We recently had the chance to speak at New Hope Church’s Spanish… Read more >>

The Heart of Christ is our "Why"

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

Hello! My name is Dominique. My husband Brian and I are in preparation to go overseas, and it has been a joy to be encouraged by family and friends as we meet with them to share about what we feel called to. I want to share about how we got to this point, but the most important thing to share is our "why". We've both experienced the Lord's invitation to accept his grace and feel called to share that with others. We want to share this good news of salvation with others, and spread the name of Jesus to the lost and oppressed. Brian and I first began speaking about the potential of living… Read more >>
