My letter to future goers

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

My Letter to future Goers:   My husband and I arrived in April of 2021 to Masatepe, Nicaragua thinking that we’d be here for at least the two years we committed to GoCorps. Within the first year, we decided to make our time here indefinite, since we really felt like there was a lot that God wants to continue to do here. We had to learn to be okay with being uncomfortable with things being different than at home and even different than we had expected. We came with the intention to seek after what God wants for our lives and to obey Him in where he would like us to be. We were, of course… Read more >>

Just Some Updates - June

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

Hi everyone! We hope you are doing well! As summer begins for many of you in the States, ours is just ending. We just finished an extremely hot month of May, and now June marks the start of rainy season (or “winter”). In April, we passed our one-year mark being here in Nicaragua and boy has it flown by! Since our last update we were visited by some of our best friends, as well as by my sister and brother-in-law, we hosted two short-term teams, and Brian went to a One Collective conference in Zambia!   This year, our team is on track to set a record for the most short-term teams we have… Read more >>

Just Some Updates 1/27

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

Hello again! It is amazing how quickly these months have gone by. Our team has undergone many changes since we arrived last April, and many of those changes have meant Nique and I are getting consistently pulled in more and more directions. We have both felt very busy, but it is rewarding to look back on the work that has been done so far. I was recently reading about oak trees, and how so much of their early growth happens below the ground. In the early stages of development, much of the growth happens below the surface–a good root system and firm foundation for the tree needs to be formed.… Read more >>

Seasons of Change 11/12

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

We have now passed the 6-month mark of being in Nicaragua, so thank you – thank you for your support and encouragement over these months. Since April, we’ve gotten tanner than Minnesota weather allows us to be, eaten more rice and beans than we thought was possible, become more fluent in Spanish, and most importantly, become more sure that God has us where we should be. Brian and I have some exciting news to share! Our team has been undergoing some changes in structure and leadership over the last month or so, and that involved some changes for Brian and I. After much prayer and consideration… Read more >>

Winter Wonderland 8/18

By on Track: Medical Region: Latin America

Hi everyone, I hope you’re having a great summer! We are technically in the middle of our “winter” here in Nicaragua, which is essentially just a rainy season from mid-June through August. It’s quite a change to the winters we are used to! We’ve been here for 4 months now and wanted to catch you up on what we’ve been up to lately. A large portion of our July was spent preparing for and hosting a short-term team from Mars Hill Church in Alabama. Right now, our team hosts between 5-10 short-term teams each year and they come from various churches and organizations around the US, all from… Read more >>
