My Life is Just a Cacophony of Colors...

Growing up moving back and forth between different parts of Texas and Washington, I learned quickly how hard goodbyes can be. I would always leave the state grappling for my friendships, saying things like, “Write me! Email me! We’ll keep in touch! We can call every Friday!” Those solutions would work for a few weeks, but most of the time, a few months into the transition I would be discouraged from a text or email that was left unanswered. (No matter which side it was on… keeping in touch can be hard work.)       … Read more >>

Sometimes I find that God talks to me through comic strip ideas… He gives me these sweet, simple images of our relationship… interactions between us that help me understand His closeness, REALNESS, and connection with ME (and others.)             Occasionally I’ll take the time to draw them out- I find they’re so beautiful, even if they’re just a simple blurry sketch- it’s the idea they represent that really counts.      When I was just a wee little girl, living with the fam. in a small town near Seattle, Washington, one of my favorite things to do was go to the Seattle Science Center. You could learn about shapes, leverage, balance, momentum, weather, sea life, outer space, butterflies, dinosaurs, zippers, I don’t even know! You name it, and they probably had some giant interactive exhibit that you could have fun with and learn something new at the same time.      Some of… Read more >>

Can I just, say how THANKFUL I am??

I’m finding, that sometimes people are surprised to hear that my family experienced a house fire in 2004. I guess I don’t talk about it all that often, because, why would I? Right? But looking back on it, I can see how that house fire jumpstarted my testimony of “homeless-ness.” Anybody who knows me really well will know that depending on my mood or the day, I will either say that I am homeless or that I have many homes. I know it’s probably not the most politically correct thing to say, but it’s just how my mind works.    … Read more >>

What's up World?

By on Track: Youth Development Region: Latin America

Hellooo World! Or anyone who may be reading this now!          Welcome to my first blog entry!       I'd like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Rosie Sawatzki, and I recently graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. While I was there I studied Spanish and Education, was very involved in my church and college group, and very in love with my work of being a Resident Assistant to the incoming freshman girls who came into the dorm I worked and lived in.       Instead of taking the traditional route of going… Read more >>
