Batter my heart, three-person'd God By John Donne   Batter my heart, three-person'd God, for you As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend; That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new. I, like an usurp'd town to another due, Labor to admit you, but oh, to no end; Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend, But is captiv'd, and proves weak or untrue. Yet dearly I love you, and would be lov'd fain, But am betroth'd unto your enemy; Divorce me, untie or break that knot again, Take me to you, imprison me, for I, Except… Read more >>

Some Stories and Lessons Learned Thus Far…

By on Track: Youth Development Region: Latin America

In my most recent newsletter, I mentioned how it seems impossible to truly keep you informed about all the happenings I am getting to be a part of over here in Costa Rica. This blog will feature a small compilation of stories and lessons learned from my time in the country thus far. Hope you enjoy!   Never put all your chili in one pot…             I’ve heard people say that you shouldn’t put all of your eggs in one basket, but I’d never heard someone say you should… Read more >>

Today is day 13 for me here in Costa Rica. I am alive and glad to be here!! And thank you all for helping me get here.             The past almost 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of many things. One of my first priorities was getting settled into my new room, getting to know my host family, and I’m still working… Read more >>

The FINAL COUNTDOWN! (dana-naa-nuhh… dana-na-na-nuuuh…)

6 Days left!!               This has been a season of waiting. And being completely honest with you, now that my departure date is less than a week away, I’m nervous for the metaphorical labor pains of transition, and the sleep depravity that comes with parenting a metaphorical newborn. I’m thankful to be encouraged every day, and I’m working on recognizing the gift of life in metaphorical motherhood. (Any mothers out there who have metaphorical tips relating to this metaphor of waiting, childbirth, and newborns? Would love to… Read more >>

*Bonus: Thanksgiving Special*

By on Track: Youth Development Region: Latin America

Something that really stuck out to me from a sermon quite a few years ago was the importance of being grateful. Our pastor said an attitude of gratitude, or a thankful heart, fights fear (and many other things) because they can’t exist in the same place at the same time.             I’ve always considered myself a fairly agreeable person, pretty thankful for most things, but practicing gratitude takes a conscious effort. At training in North Carolina, someone shared that… Read more >>
