I Surrender… My Carry-on

By on Track: Ministry Region: Middle East

It's been 3 weeks since leaving America, but in some ways that feels like a lifetime ago. Before coming here, I went on a rant about how one must be an elite, mature person to go overseas. One must be ready to give their life, their belongings, and take up their cross to follow Jesus. I packed up my things into a backpack, carry-on, and two suitcases, and was ready to leave the rest behind me. While in pre-field training I remember thinking to myself "This is it. I feel ready, let's go do this, Jesus."  Upon entering my last flight, my carry-on was taken by one of the flight attendants… Read more >>

I'm An Idiot

By on Track: Ministry Region: Middle East

Yep, you read that title correctly. Nope, I am not looking for affirmation, just facing a reality. 7 years I’ve been dreaming about living overseas. 3 years ago I started looking into missions overseas seriously. My thoughts as I entered this season were pretty much, “God, You are welcome. I am here and I am going, just like You’ve asked. Because if this huge sacrifice and saintly act, I shall be entitled to receive Your never ending blessings, prosperity in ministry, and happiness… and the knowledge that I am better than everyone else. ~ Yours Truly” Little did I know the rude awakening I… Read more >>

The Calm Before the Storm

By on Track: Ministry Region: Middle East

I’ll be honest, this has been one of my favorite seasons of life. Support raising has just about wrapped up, my sister’s home from college, and get to spend the holidays with my family. I have had incredible appointments with people and I’m blown away by God’s grace and generosity. However, I can’t shake the feeling that this is the calm before the storm. I started going through a Bible study that explains the culture of where I’m headed and what ministry will look like. Going through this study is helpful but intimidating.     I would say that majority of people struggle with… Read more >>

The Season of Surrender

By on Track: Ministry Region: Middle East

I am currently in week 9 of the support raising process. To call this a season of surrender is an understatement. I praise God for how He has provided and I’m happy to say that I am almost fully funded! I was so nervous about how this process was going to go. I am from a small town in Northern Minnesota, in the poorest county per capita in the state. God has been so faithful in this season and I has shown me the model of “the less you have, the more you give.” I am scheduled to be fully funded by the beginning of December and at my current rate will be over-funded! How great is our God?!… Read more >>

All People All Nations

By on Track: Ministry Region: Middle East

Greetings, everyone!  We finished our GoWeek and are feeling as equipped as ever. It has been incredible getting to know the GoCorps staff that I have been e-mailing the past few months. This experience has made everything so real.  My name is Hannah and I graduated from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul with a degree in Public Relations. My interest in missions sparked when a woman who was working in China shared about her heart for the lost. I admired her love for Jesus which flowed into her relationships with people. Throughout college and high school I heard speaker… Read more >>
