My Letter to Future Goers

By on Track: Community Development Region: Middle East

I am so grateful for my two years of time overseas. I can't believe it's finally over! I will be staying two more years and I am glad to have more opportunities to serve in this way. I have learned a lot and I am amazed at all the ways God has and continues to grow me through my work and life abroad.  Read more >>

Special Event

By on Track: Community Development Region: Middle East

The day after I returned to my country we had a special event at our tea house program! There is a group of Syrian musicians (also refugees), that live in here, who came to play during program. I can’t even describe how special it was to see our refugee friends so full of joy at the sounds of the music from their homeland. VBS

I have been here almost 7 months now and there have been a lot of changes taking place. I am entering into part time language/part time ministry; with this new season comes new responsibilities! At the end of August, a team from the US came and helped us to run a VBS week here! We started with 85 kids the first day and ended the week with about 130, all speaking either English, Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish, or Farsi. With all the moms that stuck around and volunteers, it was a full house! I think many of us would say that one of the… Read more >>

Ramadan

By on Track: Community Development Region: Middle East

I recently started in my role as the coordinator for one of our programs. Last month, during Ramadan, we had a special iftar night (the sunset breaking of the fast) for a few families that attend this program. The women cooked and taught us how to make the special dishes and then we all enjoyed the meal together. It was a very fun and encouraging night to be a part of. The families were very excited to share their food and culture with us and the volunteers were able to have some amazing and relevant conversations with the families. Read more >>
