A Year Later

How do I even begin to sum up my year here? Iteams Nicaragua bought a rehabilitation farm for recovering addicts, donated 7500 eggs to preschoolers, and increased our Nicaraguan and American work family. All the short-term mission groups who visit us are astonished at what we’ve accomplished and how much we’ve grown. In the mist of all this great progress as a team, it was personally the hardest year of my life.  I feel as if my imperfections and flaws are bubbling to the surface like the lava in the Masaya Volcano. I am strong-willed and confident, but I have been asked to mold, change… Read more >>

Oceans

Nearly four years ago, on a cool, misty day in a forest outside of Pittsburg, a friend approached me with something a little odd. You see, it was a Sunday of my first summer with Southwestern Advantage, the crazy, character-building, book thing. Every Sunday our whole team gathered and started our meeting with worship. This was also the time when the song Oceans by Hillsong came out, and after a long hard week and with the sweet yet powerful voices of the Elle and Anne, it just hit right down to your core. Our Strengths and Weaknesses

By on Track: Business Region: Latin America

I might be the most extroverted person you will ever meet. Like I need 0 alone time, 0 down time. My whole life I have jam packed my schedule to always be going and doing something. My mom was ecstatic when I got my driver’s license so she didn’t have to shofer me around. I guess God is using this period of my life to test that. I have been living alone for almost 3 months now, something I never dreamed would happen. And while I’m being honest here, I have been having a hard time making friends. As a recent college grad, this is the first time in my life I am not surrounded by people of the… Read more >>

6 months later...

I have been a Nicaraguan for 6 months today! I haven’t written in a while so I’ll here is what I have been up too: a lot of Spanish tutoring. Still. Since you all know me, you know how patient I am (jokes). Well, God knows how patient I am and apparently wants me to work on that. My patience is getting tested by trying to learn a new language, working with locals that have a different mentality and upbringing than I do, and waiting to feel like I am doing anything productive.  A lot has been going on though. Three weeks ago I was able to join a mission trip to the remote northeastern… Read more >>
