Alexia - Greece Updates

Class of 2024
Ethical Storyteller in Greece
Track: Media - Communications track
Region: Europe
From a young age, the art of storytelling has captivated me. I've loved observing how each of God's people live one life together but are walking in so many different stories. I'm thrilled to experience how the Lord will utilize my passion for storytelling and cinema together in Greece to share the stories of the marginalized and oppressed.

Learning to Seek The Spirit

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

I’ve recently found myself convicted about the ways I seek out and listen to the Holy Spirit. Throughout October, my home church has been encouraging us to earnestly and wholeheartedly pursue the Spirit in all that we do. As I’ve spent time reflecting on the sermons both in my own quiet moments with the Lord and in my weekly small group, it’s become clear how little I feel I know about the Spirit. Especially when it comes to seeking Him. At the beginning of the month, I began reading through the book of Acts, hoping it would help lay a biblical foundation for understanding the works of the… Read more >>

How I'm Leaning into the Waiting

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

The waiting is something I’ve touched on in a few of my posts, and I’ve shared the struggle that comes with it at times. This past month, I’ve decided to lean into and fully embrace this season of expectant waiting that God has me in, rather than trying to actively fight it. Language Learning I’ve begun to merely touch the surface in the world of language learning by doing lessons on Duolingo, making an effort to learn and recite the Greek alphabet, listening to Greek music, and occasionally watching kids’ shows (such as Bluey) in Greek. While I’m not counting on learning anything formal by… Read more >>

Navigating the Waves of Chaos

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

Sometimes as I find myself sitting in seasons of waiting, such as I have in recent months, chaos seems as if it comes and goes in waves. At one moment, all feels at peace, and it’s easy to sit and declare my trust in the Lord and where He has me. Other times, it feels like I’m sinking in an ocean of impatience and everything around me is in utter chaos— my emotions, my relationships, and even the way I carry myself in day-to-day life. The latter weeks of August have felt like this ocean I can’t help but sink in, no matter what I do in an attempt to pull myself out.  I’ll be transparent… Read more >>

Learning to Surrender Impatience

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

I’ll be honest, waiting kills me. As much as I’d like to consider myself a patient person, it’s definitely a fruit that the Lord is stretching me to grow in. I tend to want to make things move as quickly as possible and often attach my own timelines to various things. Spoiler: This never ends up well. I’ve always known I wasn’t the most patient person, but didn’t realize the degree of my impatience until this month. I’ve just recently begun running again, and anyone who knows running knows it takes time to build endurance and speed. On one of my runs within the first week back, I found myself… Read more >>

Not Mine to Solve, Merely to Help

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Europe

Over the last month, I’ve been challenging myself to sit with and interact with the Lord in new ways to deepen my relationship with Him intentionally. In this time, He has been answering some of my many questions, while also allowing me to sit and ponder on some new ones related to the connections between anti-trafficking work and the Kingdom.  I began working through the book of Jeremiah early in the month and reading about God’s warning of exile against the people of Jerusalem due to their unfaithful actions towards Him. I’ve been reminded of the Lord’s hand within the injustice in… Read more >>
