How I'm Leaning into the Waiting

Posted on Friday, October 3, 2025

The waiting is something I’ve touched on in a few of my posts, and I’ve shared the struggle that comes with it at times. This past month, I’ve decided to lean into and fully embrace this season of expectant waiting that God has me in, rather than trying to actively fight it.

Language Learning

I’ve begun to merely touch the surface in the world of language learning by doing lessons on Duolingo, making an effort to learn and recite the Greek alphabet, listening to Greek music, and occasionally watching kids’ shows (such as Bluey) in Greek. While I’m not counting on learning anything formal by doing these things, my hope is that these things will help me ease into the more structured and rigorous language learning I’ll be involved with once I make my move to Greece.

Running/Training

About 10 weeks ago, I began running again! I’ve found that both my physical and mental health are benefiting greatly from this small change in my day-to-day routine, especially as the fall gloom and rain have begun to set in in Washington. It’s allowed more time to sit and process life with the Lord and spend more time outdoors among creation, which has made me feel more consistently connected with Him. In an effort to continue these healthy habits, as well as work towards fulfilling the goal I set a few years back of running a full marathon before the age of 25, I’m running a half-marathon this December!

Writing

Since graduating from college, I’ve found myself struggling with finding the time and space to exercise my creative brain in the ways I need and enjoy. I have recently been sitting with the Lord, trying to figure out what it would look like to jump into creating 1-2 minute short films based on the Psalms. One of the groups I’ve been listening to on Spotify lately, “LOST & FOUND,” does something similar in songwriting. All of their songs are created by reading through a Psalm as a team, praying over the Psalm and their session, and then asking the Holy Spirit to guide them and ultimately help them write a song. As I was listening to them on the way to work a few weeks ago, I felt a nudge from the Lord prompting me to consider this as a new way to invite Him into my creativity and the things I create.
