Becoming Legal and Settling into Life

I Received My Visa and Cédula At the beginning of April, I went to the “Plataforma” with a lawyer and translator and applied for my extended visa. This was a long and expensive process, but I was approved and am now permitted to stay for two years (if God leads me to stay longer then I’ll reapply for another visa)! I also received a cédula, Ecuador’s ID, which has honestly made my life so much easier so praise God for little blessings! Cortes de Luz Also in April, we had periods of “Cortes de Luz” or “power cuts.” It was my first time learning that electricity is a finite resource, as well as… Read more >>

Annual Team Conference It has been a crazy month, March 3rd marked my first full month in Ecuador! That same weekend, I also went to my first ATC (Annual Team Conference). I got to meet everyone who works for Youth World that weekend which was both exciting and overwhelming. The weekend consisted of four main sessions (all Spanish!) and two break out sessions (options in English thankfully). I was really nervous going into this weekend because I had only been in language school for less than a month, but I ended up being able to understand and didn’t need a translator for the main sessions!… Read more >>

Ending January The first month of this year was absolutely crazy. From going away parties to last minute shopping trips – January was nonstop. What a perfect ending to my time in the States. I was worried about mourning wasted time, but I can honestly say that I don’t think there was much extra time for me to grieve not utilizing. Beginning February On February 3rd I officially left the States to begin this adventure. After a whole day of traveling I got to my host family’s house a little after 10pm, so I didn’t know just how beautiful this city is! Quito is HUGE and is completely surrounded… Read more >>

My 2023 Recap My 2023 was so exciting and unexpected. At the beginning of the year I had no idea whether or not I would actually be going to Ecuador with One Collective. Now – a full year later – here I am packing my bags for my next big adventure. I’m so overwhelmed by God’s beautiful plan and for all the kind hearts of those around me. Thank you to everyone who is supporting me (whether it be prayerfully, financially, or any other way). I am continually grateful for you all and wouldn’t be here without you! January — 0% • At this point I didn’t know I would be moving to Ecuador! • Moved… Read more >>

Adjusting Expectation and Preparing to Go

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Latin America

The Lord is Good! I’m sure you are all curious as to whether I met my goal by my deadline. The short answer is no, but the long answer is a testament to God’s power and graciousness. The Rundown My goal was to raise 25% of my budget (over $800/month) by the end of last week. By the Lord’s provision I am now 98% fundraised and only missing $100/month. To me, this feels like the Lord is very clearly saying, “I have the ability and the power to get you there, but it’s not my timing yet.” This, accompanied with the overwhelming peace that I feel, assures me that this was the Lord’s plan. I don’t… Read more >>
