Adjusting Expectation and Preparing to Go

Posted on Wednesday, October 23, 2024

The Lord is Good!

I’m sure you are all curious as to whether I met my goal by my deadline. The short answer is no, but the long answer is a testament to God’s power and graciousness.

The Rundown

My goal was to raise 25% of my budget (over $800/month) by the end of last week. By the Lord’s provision I am now 98% fundraised and only missing $100/month. To me, this feels like the Lord is very clearly saying, “I have the ability and the power to get you there, but it’s not my timing yet.”

This, accompanied with the overwhelming peace that I feel, assures me that this was the Lord’s plan. I don’t feel any disappointment or failure about missing my deadline, I’m just happy that the Lord’s Will is being done and I’m excited for when I do go!

The Plan

I can’t see this last $100/month taking more than a few weeks to fundraise. Thus, I will likely be leaving for Quito, Ecuador in very early February. This is honestly a huge blessing. Now, I will get to spend more time with my family, and I’ll be able to take my time saying my goodbyes.

Praise and Prayers

First, I want to just take time and thank the Lord for His provision. This would not be possible without him. He has made is abundantly clear that He wants me in Ecuador and has made a way to make it possible. It is amazing to see Him at work.

Second, I would ask that you join me in prayer for the last bit I have to raise. I would love to be able to find one or two (or more) people to finish me out so that I can enjoy the holidays without having to stress about trying to fit fundraising meetings in.

Third, please pray for me as I enter into this transition. I know there will be both joy and grief simultaneously. Please pray that I handle it with grace and am able to say goodbye well. I’m going to miss my friends and family so much, and I know it will be difficult. I’ve been asking the Lord for his peace in this time of transition. Recently I’ve been meditating on Ecclesiastes 3:4 and learning how to embrace this season.
