My letter to future Goers

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

So you’re thinking about going overseas… You might feel like there are a million reasons to say no.  Going requires sacrifice, leaving things behind. Going means leaving everything you know to go start a new life, one where you probably won’t know what you’re doing for a looooong while. It means giving up spending time with friends and family, maybe giving up taking a job in your field, and giving up any control you thought you had over your life.    But I’m sitting here now, back home in Indiana for two months now, and the things that I “lost” don’t occupy my mind. Instead, it… Read more >>

When God meets you in the darkness

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

Hello all!  This is a re-post from my newsletter from this past month, so if you recieve my newsletters, go ahead and skip this blog ;) I've been in Berlin for almost 5 months now! It's been a crazy time of learning and growing and being humbled and stretched by the Lord! It's also been wayyy too long since I've written anything on my GoCorps blog, so here is some of what the Lord has been teaching me in the last month :) Migraines are not a fun time.  I think anyone who has ever had one can definitely agree with that.  For me, I get nauseous, I get sweaty and feverish, I… Read more >>

Giving up the plan

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

I've always been a very sentimental, "I must keep this just in case I need it someday" kind of person (aka kind of a pack-rat but that's okay).  So, naturally, there is a huge container of all of my past journals underneath my bed dating all the way back to '98.  Something *slightly* weird that I like to do every once in a while is read through them.  It is really cool to read my small-child thoughts and read prayers that I wrote in high school and college.  It can be very cathartic to go back and see how much I've changed and how much God has worked in my life.  With… Read more >>

Preparation

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

God has been preparing me for this time in Germany for a long time.  There are probably things you could point at from even my childhood that point toward what I am about to do.  More obvious probaby is how He has prepared me in the last year and a half; even more obviously in the last 4 months.  Since the last week in August, I've been working toward getting fully funded to go to Berlin.  It's not always been an easy road, but I've seen the Lord show up for me in absolutely incredible ways in the last few months.  As support raising slows down, I have had time to… Read more >>

Sabbath

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

Up until this May, I've been a student pretty much my entire life.  During the last four years specifically, I have become an excellent avoider.  I would spend time with friends, on Netflix, napping, or doing literally anything besides my schoolwork, all the while internally stressing out over all of the things that I was actually supposed to be doing.  College pretty much always makes you feel like you should be doing something that you're not doing.  Even when you're doing homework, you have other homework you also have to do.  Even when you're on break, there's… Read more >>
