Love comes quietly.

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

Recently at my placement in Berlin, Germany, I heard a sermon that described a poem. As I was trying to capture the idea of the poem, two lines really stood out to me and immediately struck my heart: "Ich komme leise. Liebe kommt immer leise." Or "I come quietly. Love always comes quietly." The poem in its entirety (translated) reads as follows: Sometimes you must  look back. Otherwise you see nothing. Sometimes  you must  listen. Otherwise you hear nothing. My Captain

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

Painting by Elizabeth Reoch. My Captain, a poem inspired by Jesus' faithful work in my life. Jesus has proven himself to be the best captain and I trust him in bringing me to port (aka 100% funding). From the very beginning, I broke my arm at 5 years old learning to ride the tricycle. Since then, I've flown over my handlebars, cracked helmets,… Read more >>

I'd like to think that it's soaking into my brain and I'll magically understand German, but the reality is that I catch some words or phrases every once in awhile. I know that it's about a bear who often goes to school and drinks water, so that's cool. But why would I possibly spend my time listening to it? BECAUSE I'm preparing to move to Berlin, Germany, to give my time seving others, like women in a safe house who have been… Read more >>
