Heart Preparation & Leaving
How in the world did the time fly by so quickly? Today is February 7th, which means departure day is only twenty-five days away! Not counting cultural training, this means I only have eleven more days at home...WHAT?! Somehow my to-do list keeps getting longer rather than shorter, and instead of more ready, there are some days where I feel a little more afraid. Not afraid as in fearful, but afraid as in remembering all the things I will be leaving for two years. No Longer Slaves!
Good evening friends, I don't actually need to write another blog for a few weeks, but I just couldn't wait! The last few days, weeks...(okay, longer)... I have been struggling with some serious fear and self-doubt. The past few days specifically, I have seriously been doubting that God will provide and that I am a worthy cause. Thankful to report that God has been giving me little bits of life through time with people I love deeply each and every day during my time here. It’s been about fourteen weeks since I started my support-raising journey, and praise Jesus more than 75% of my support has been COMMITTED! I am thankful for a Lord who is… Read more >>
The Value of Connection (In a Disconnected World)
Today was a pretty typical day in terms of support raising. I woke up, drove 45 minutes to a support meeting with family members, drove to visit two beloved members of my support team who I only just met last month, grabbed some lunch, drove home, took a quick nap, grabbed a cup of coffee, and went to work on some administrative tasks (writing thank yous, counting dollars raised so far, making follow up calls, reaching out to more people, blog writing, etc.) Part way through the day though, as I was about to head towards home, I had one of those moments. One of those moments where you just… Read more >>
