Lessons Learned

By on Track: Languages - Linguistics Region: Europe

How is 2016 almost over already? I have spent this whole year pursuing this GoCorps placement. I applied early enough to launch back in the fall, but the Lord worked it out so that I'm launching in the winter instead. It has been a hard year, but it has been a good year. God has shown me His goodness in so many ways, and I reflected on that a bit recently.  My pastor asked me to share with my church some of the things I've learned during this journey, and I got to do that this past Sunday. I wanted to share a few of them with y'all as well. 1. No matter what I attempt, I can't do it on… Read more >>

Needing Community

I’ve had moments over the last few months when I’ve thought this is all up to me. It all depends on my strength and my ability and how hard I work. I get caught up in the idea that raising support rests solely on my shoulders. Even when my eyes are focused on Jesus and I’m depending on Him for strength and ability, it still feels like it’s just me sometimes, as if I’m the only person in this equation.   So the other day, I was updating a few of my friends on my support raising. I explained that I only had a little bit left to raise – some monthly and some start up. These friends are… Read more >>

Roller Coaster

Trying to decide what to blog about before I'm even overseas is difficult. I expect to have plenty of stories to tell from my experiences in a different culture, but what stories should I tell now? It's not that there's nothing to tell. God is definitely working through so much in my life, but I end up taking it all for granted. I'm thankful that this blog is part of my job because it's making me reflect on the last several weeks, which convicts me of my lack of appreciation for all that God has done and provided. To be honest, this support raising campaign has been a roller coaster. I've… Read more >>

The Importance of Waiting

By on Track: Languages - Linguistics Region: Europe

I like to journal when I pray so I can go back and see where God has answered one thing or another and see how He has grown me and changed me over time and through different circumstances. I looked at a particular entry today and noticed that I had recorded a quote from Charles Spurgeon: "If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts; for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for. The waiting itself is beneficial to us: it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission, and endears the blessing when it comes. The Lord's people have always been… Read more >>

Here We Go!

By on Track: Languages - Linguistics Region: Europe

So much has happened in the past week and a half. I've traveled further north in the US than I ever had before, I've made so many new friends, I've learned a ton of information about what I'll be doing overseas, I've absorbed valuable information about support raising appointments, and I've witnessed God confirm His calling for me over and over. I am completely blown away by His love for me and His excitement about what I'm stepping into, and He's pouring that excitement into me.  I went from training with my sending organization straight to GoWeek, and I wasn't sure how I would handle… Read more >>
