Roller Coaster

Posted on Thursday, October 13, 2016

Trying to decide what to blog about before I'm even overseas is difficult. I expect to have plenty of stories to tell from my experiences in a different culture, but what stories should I tell now? It's not that there's nothing to tell. God is definitely working through so much in my life, but I end up taking it all for granted. I'm thankful that this blog is part of my job because it's making me reflect on the last several weeks, which convicts me of my lack of appreciation for all that God has done and provided.

To be honest, this support raising campaign has been a roller coaster. I've bounced between encouraged and discouraged, full of faith and full of doubt, energized and exhausted. It hasn't been easy, and I'm only halfway through so I know there's more roller coaster to come, but God is faithfully faithful. I know that sounds redundant, but He's always faithful. It's not that He's faithful in some things and not in others (like we are), but He is perfecty faithful, the only true example of perfect faithfulness. I don't mean to rant in circles; my mind just keeps coming back to this. In the low points as well as the high points, my Abba is there with me. I admit that the low points are tough and that it's all I can do to cling to His faithfulness, but what hit me recently is that I don't always recognize His faithfulness in the high points. This is where that conviction that I mentioned comes in. Apparently I see myself as so entitled at times that I don't bother thanking and praising my Provider when He comes through. Ha, as if I could make it this far in support raising on my own! There's no way. So praise be to God that the majority of the people I've met with over the last six weeks have decided to partner with me in this adventure! He is moving in people's hearts to take part in this work that He is doing. He continues to provide appointments and commitments when I hit a dead end. He continues to draw my eyes back to Him when I try to run this marathon alone. God is faithful even when we're not (Romans 3:3).
