Those Days In Between

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Asia - South East

You know how when we were kids we would constantly hear from adults “Don’t rush your youth because they are the best years of  your life” Well we couldn’t wait for high school to be over so that we could reach those college years. Summers couldn’t come fast enough because we were all so sick of studying for tests and writing ten page papers. We longed for the cold weather months and then complained it was too cold and couldn’t wait for it to heat back up. We began to believe that if this particular moment arrived we would somehow find happiness. We hoped for what was to come and not for… Read more >>

She Gets It

Featured story By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Asia - South East

She’s a young girl in my community. She’s 17 years old. Has braces, short brown hair, and the lives at the front of our community. She and her older sister are the only two Christians in her family. She is shy, yet displays natural leadership abilities. She sees the world through such a unique and uncommon perspective. A perspective of hope and for something more. She’s taken notice of the way the children around her have fallen by the way side. How they’ve slipped into drug addictions. How they’ve developed a joy in going to gaming centers where gambling most likely takes place. And how… Read more >>

A Taste of Heaven

I remember when I was in El Salvador when my team attended a large catholic mass service conducted entirely in Spanish.I understood words here and there from my minuscule high school studies, but I could sense the powerful words being spoken through the testimony of changed lives in that room that day.I hummed along to songs that I recognized, but mostly stood amazed as I looked around the room and realized that I was worshipping with believers in an entirely different setting than my usual surroundings of middle class Americans. And to this day I remember feeling like I was experiencing a… Read more >>

It's Not About Me.

If you’ll allow me, I’d like to be honest with you. In the ten years that I have been a Christian I have considered myself to be a bad one. I grew up in a southern Baptist church that encouraged me as a youth to develop a “personal relationship with Jesus Christ.” This was accomplished through consistent quiet times where one would study the word of the God and spend time praying to our Heavenly Father. However I struggled developing a desire to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Don’t get me wrong; I have loved my Heavenly Father since the moment I decided I wanted to follow him,… Read more >>

Christmas in Bangkok

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Asia - South East

I’m sitting here sipping on a White Chocolate Mocha that Starbucks claims will put me in the “holiday spirit”, but unfortunately that just isn’t true. The Christmas music that is currently playing in my ears isn’t doing the trick either. I also know that it has nothing to do with it being 80+ degrees, because being that I’m from Texas and never having had a white Christmas in my life I’ve become accustomed to the idea that I may indeed have a warm Christmas. And although Thailand really gets into decorating with excessive Christmas lights and massive trees, I just can’t shake the feeling that… Read more >>
