My Letter to Future Goers

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Asia - South East

To my brothers and sisters in Jesus, Thank you for going to the ends of the earth as we follow Jesus' call to be His witnesses and to make disciples. The Lord opened the doors for me to go even though I didn't find myself qualified or competent. He reminded me that He was competent, and He offered me the opportunity to go. I knew I would always regret it if I didn't walk through those open doors. I'm glad I did. I share a bit of my experience with the prayer that it may help you. Throughout the last two years our heavenly Father drew me into deeper relationship with Himself. As I prepared to… Read more >>

Water Project

November and December were exciting months here. We had two civil engineering students who were studying in the Netherlands join us to work on their undergraduate thesis projects. One of them worked at our farm making a plan and laying the foundation to have a ram pump installed which will pump water from a small waterfall up to the top of a ridge on our property using only gravity to propel it. We are excited for this pump because it will allow us to reforest and use some of the higher areas of our land that have been hard to rehabilitate. We are also excited because it will be an example of… Read more >>

Learning Internationally

Life here has been moving along quickly with much to do as always. I just returned Monday from a conference in Japan. Nearly our entire team was able to attend, and God orchestrated it by helping our in-country teammates to get passports, visas, and financing to be able to attend and travel internationally for the first time. We had adventures trying new food, navigating complex train systems, experiencing Japanese culture and customs, and losing a teammate temporarily when she stepped on the wrong train and then the doors closed. It was beautiful and cool (to us) with temperatures 50-70… Read more >>

Farm and Friends

Greetings and salutations from SE Asia, friends! I am finally settling in here and finding a little bit more of a routine. I have been spending my weeks at the farm and my weekends back near the city where our team also works. At the farm I have been continuing to work in the vegetable gardens to improve their production and effectiveness as a training tool. I have been learning new techniques and skills, and I am amazed at how well things grow here! You often can just cut a branch off of a plant, stick the branch in the ground, and roughly 90 percent of the time it starts growing a whole new… Read more >>

Cultivating Plants or Relationships?

By on Track: Media - Communications Region: Asia - South East

“Hello!” My neighbor said as she walked by and saw me planting some flowers. “You're all alone. Do you want some help? I will help you!” In this culture people rarely do things alone, and they assume that you are sad if you are alone because you do not have a friend with you. I am an American and an introvert so doing things on my own and being alone at times is normal for me. When she stopped to say hello I had been enjoying my alone time. It was the first I'd gotten to plant on my own with a little bit of freedom to design it as I liked. I didn't appreciate my neighbor's intrusion into my… Read more >>
