3.1 billion people are unreached by the gospel. Walk Week is your opportunity to commit to seven days of walking, learning about the unreached and praying for Goers.
On August 10-16, we invite you to walk a mile or more each day, walking with our Goers and praying for the unreached. To cap the week off, walkers invite friends to the Global 5K (3.1 miles), raising awareness and mobilizing prayer for the 3.1 billion unreached.
Walk Week is a fundraiser and prayer walking event. All funds raised will help to recruit more Goers to serve globally for two years among the least reached!
Our fundraising goal for Walk Week is $10,000. All funds raised will go toward our efforts to recruit and coach the next class of Goers to walk among the unreached. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our mobilization efforts just like it's affected almost all other facets of our society. So, after 10 years, we are back into start-up mode, gearing up for a Fall mobilization push unlike we've ever done. We are excited and as well as a little daunted by the work that lies ahead. But we press forward knowing that now, more than ever, the world needs Goers who will bring the good news to the unreached!
Walk Week 2020 Goal: $10,000
Funds Raised: $9,015 (through registrations and donations)
Frequently Asked Questions
Walk Week and the Walk Week Global 5K are virtual events that you can do right where you are. We encourage you to do your daily walking in your neighborhood, but you are free to choose whatever location you want. Since it’s a virtual event, we will be keeping you connected and updated through daily emails, updates on this page, and we’ll encourage all Walkers to share their experience on social media.
Any of these factors make the support raising journey a lot harder and therefore difficult to reach the field on time. We can’t change a Goers support raising journey, but we can help them by giving them a needed boost and a hand up at some crucial times in the process!
All funds raised during Walk Week will go to GoCorps efforts to make two years of global service and mission to be the new norm for Christians after college. These funds will help our team to recruit and coach the class of 2021, launching 30 or more Goers to serve globally for two years, using their degree and living on mission among those with the greatest need and least opportunity of a gospel witness.
There’s not a specific way to do your prayer walk during Walk Week and there’s no right or wrong way to do them. The most important thing is that you walk each day, and that you take the opportunity during that walk to pray for the prayer points for that day!
There are many ways of doing prayer walks. During Walk Week, we are simply asking you to walk a mile each day, and to use that time to pray for the unreached and for Goers who are serving overseas. Each day during Walk Week, before you go on your walk, read the daily prayer overview and prayer points in the Walk Week Prayer Guide. Then, while you are doing you mile walk, take some of the time to pray for the prayer points for that day. You could pray out loud, silently, quietly. You could start by popping in your Airpods and listening to a worship song or two and then pray. Try a different way each day if you want!
If praying while walking isn’t something you’ve ever done, then this is an opportunity to try something new! Our hope is that Walk Week will be a refreshing time of talking with the Lord while you walk around your neighborhood and city. And we hope that it’ll be an informative and inspiring time as you learn about some of the ways that God is working through Goers and in the lives of the unreached globally!
Walk Week culminates in a ‘Global 5K’ event with all Walkers mobilizing others in their church or social network to do a 5K (3.1 miles) for the 3.1 billion unreached on Sunday, August 16. The Global 5K can be a running, walking, cycling or whatever(!) event. The purpose is to get even more people involved in learning about and praying for the needs among the unreached.
