Being in Friendship With Refugees–A Day in the Life

As a friend to refugees here in the United States, I have a unique privilege: I get to "travel" to multiple cultures in one day! I live in an apartment complex (and greater area) composed of many refugee families, so a day in the life of my ministry placement here in Phoenix, AZ, looks like going from home to home, doing life with people from Iraq one hour only to be invited to a Syrian, Afghan, or Rohingya (minority Muslim people group from Burma) home the next. How Did I Get Here?

A global pandemic. A time of political unrest in the last country I ever thought I would want to serve in. A God whose plan is WAY bigger than mine. These factors play into where I am, but they don't answer the question of how I got to the point of serving in America in the midst of it all. Preparing to Raise my Ebenezer

Following and trusting God’s leading can be really difficult, as my teammates and I discovered two days ago. We are currently at “GoWeek,” a time of preparation for pre-field support-raising, and until two days ago were so excited to go out to our placement and work in a specific area of the world that we felt called to and were appointed to.
