Overflowing Grace

By on Track: Sports Region: Africa - North

A few weeks ago, I started and finished Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. If you have not read this book, I 110% recommend you do so! This book shares the story of Hosea in the 1850's during the California Gold Rush. Oh my word, I wish I could describe how truly incredible this book is. After completing this phenomenal novel, I sat down by the River and reflected and read through the book Hosea a couple times. As we see throughout history, God's people continually turn their backs on Him and chose to focus their attention on anything other than their Creator. It is not until His people… Read more >>

Community in Loneliness

By on Track: Sports Region: Africa - North

One of the hardest aspects of living overseas is the overwhelming loneliness that occurs to every worker. Feeling isolated, we are surrounded by very few people who speak our native tongue and understand the struggles of adjusting to a new cultural. Personally, my Arabic is limited to “I went to the store” and “I am hungry”. Unfortunately, this level of comprehension does not create deep and intimate relationships with those who live around me. It requires an extensive amount of patience on the part of the native Arabic speaker, as I pathetically fumble through words, knowing a kindergartener… Read more >>

Road Less Traveled

By on Track: Sports Region: Africa - North

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;   Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,   And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.   I shall be telling this… Read more >>

Called Beyond Comfortable

By on Track: Sports Region: Africa - North

On Monday I looked at one way tickets out of the country to join my team in a new context and culture. I left my home with no guarantee of returning. Everything I have known as normal will no longer be present in my life. As these growing pains continue to spread and the reality of me leaving the country hits, I have begun to feel increasingly anxious. I think part of me never expected the funding to come in, so God made sure to show me that it is Him alone that calls and sends. It was the moment that I hit 80% that I realized none of this journey was about me nor my efforts. It was fully God… Read more >>

Redefining Home

By on Track: Sports Region: Africa - North

This season of support raising has resulted in a unique situation for me. In the midst of asking others to invest and join in my ministry, my family has been called to live on the East Coast, the very opposite of California. As hard as this decision was for my parents, I firmly believe that this is exactly where God wants them. It has been two weeks since I have said goodbye to my family and transitioned into couch surfing along the West Coast. The number one thing I have been told about working on the field is to be flexible. Because this is not one of my strong points, God has been growing… Read more >>
