I'm Melody and this September I'll be going to Berlin for two years with ReachGlobal. Right now (like literally at this very moment), I'm sitting in a classroom with 25 other recent college grads who are also preparing to go overseas for two years. We're at GoWeek learning how to raise support, meeting our fellow cohorts, and finding out important information from our organization leaders. It's really exciting, but there's a lot to learn in just a few days!
A lot of the focus for this week has been on developing a presentation which we can use to introduce potential new ministry partners to what work we'll be doing for the next few years. It's a lot to take in, but it's also been really fun. We've all been talking about how it kind of feels like summer camp, meeting everyone for the first time, being together 24/7, living in the dorm, worshipping, and learning together. The first day we even went to a state park and played some games and bonded around a camp fire. Fun fact about me: Even though I've been to camp and even been a camp counselor, Tuesday was my very first time to ever roast a hot dog over a fire. It was a very momentous occasion for me!
Amidst the fun is a lot of learning. Our summer campaign goal is to raise 100% of the support we'll need in the next twelve weeks and the GoCorps staff has been really incredible giving us all the tools we'll need to be successful in this. I'm not the most organized person, so it's been a little overwhelming to be given so many tools to organize phone calls, meetings, and appointments and to know that I'm responsible for keeping track of everything and reporting it to my support coach on a weekly basis. However, it is really encouraging to know that we have so many people behind us, supporting and helping us stay accountable.
As I set out on this journey, I'm just trying to remember that the Lord is faithful to finish what he started in us. I know that he is leading me and I'm excited to embark on this new adventure. I hope you will join me in praying as I set out on this new path. I can't wait to see how God will move this summer!
