A Letter to Future Goers

By on Track: Arts Region: Europe

If you’re here, you’re probably thinking about spending two years as a missionary in a different country, living your life for Christ. If you’re anything like me, this is something you NEVER thought you would do in a million years. If you’re like me, you’re seriously questioning this calling and reading all the blogs you can find in the hopes it’ll help you make a decision. This blog won’t give you an answer. I mean, I would love to help. I could just speak the truth that, “You ARE called, we are ALL called, so go” and you could skip away confident in this arbitrary confirmation. Blog… Read more >>

A Passover Story

Featured story By on Track: Arts Region: Europe

Sometimes, the biggest things are the smallest. I think that’s true in life, but I know it’s true in ministry. Especially in a context like Germany where the average person may not have ever met a single Christian or been to a church service. My ministry hosts a variety of events with the simple purpose of building relationships that will lead to Gospel conversations. Some of these events are completely arts focused, like our regular Open Stage nights. Others are primarily Jesus focused, like our weekly Soul Space, an artistic meditation/Bible study. As one might expect, it’s been hard to… Read more >>

Dancing Prayer? A story from Berlin

By on Track: Arts Region: Europe

Armed with nothing but a borrowed Bluetooth speaker, my phone, and a notebook, I walked into the room I would be teaching in for the first time. To call it a room would be generous. It actually appeared to be the lobby of an old or unused entrance of the church, with big glass doors and a stone floor. It wasn’t ideal, but it would have to work. I put down my few things, tested the speaker, and set out a few chairs along the edges of the room in case anyone would need to sit down. Prep work done, I went upstairs to the main entrance and sanctuary area where the conference would be starting.… Read more >>

Moving into Freedom

By on Track: Arts Region: Europe

First things first: I’m in Berlin! As of today it has been two weeks since my cohort and I landed in the city. Believe me when I say it’s been a crazy busy first two weeks! Here’s a quick overview of what’s happened: We went on a scavenger hunt to see different parts of the city and get used to public transit. We met almost every other person on the Berlin team. I’ve been to two all-German church services. I successfully navigated the subway system alone without getting lost. I successfully navigated myself and a team member to a completely wrong location. I got partially run over by a bike… Read more >>

It's the Final Countdown!

By on Track: Arts Region: Europe

I have suitcases sitting in the front room waiting to be filled. I have an open Word document with a packing list. I have a wallet from the bank with Euros sitting in front of me. I have a passport safely in the basket on the shelf. And, most importantly, I have a plane ticket! Exactly one week from today, the 22nd, I will be on a plane headed for Berlin! It’s hard to believe that the time has finally come to actually be in Germany. This has been an interesting idea, a vague concept, and distant future plan, but it’s finally about to be my present reality! Exactly one year ago today,… Read more >>
