Reflecting

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

Hi there! I thought I’d wrap up the year by maybe answering some questions you all might have about how my first few months in Mexico were. So below is a list of questions to kind of update you as I reflect on these first three months of living in Mexico. I’d love to answer any other questions so feel free to message me and ask anything!  How have these first three months been different from your expectations?  Better?  Worse?       It has been better than I thought it would be. I have met a lot of great people, gotten my feet wet in ministry, have… Read more >>

Pure Joy in God the Redeemer

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

Last Wednesday through Saturday I and the other three young women missionaries from Avance went to a women’s missionary retreat in Guanajuato, Mexico. It was about a five hour bus ride away, but that was ok because the busses were really nice. They gave you something to drink and a snack as you presented your tickets, each seat had a T.V with movies you could watch, and they also had footrests! El Pozo

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

Hi everyone! So I have now spent two Saturdays working at the refuge and thought I'd take some time to write about what I've learned/experienced so far and how I've been feeling about it.  I think the most surprising thing so far is that the girls don't seem any different than other teenage girls you might meet. We talked about music, dancing, brothers and sisters, what T.V shows they were watching. And then I was… Read more >>

Bienvenida a Mexico!

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

Y'all I can hardly believe I've been in Mexico for more than a week. That is officially more time than I have ever spent in Mexico, ever. Let me tell you, it has taken some adjusting. This first week has been full of getting orientated and settled in. I spent the first couple of days having different orientation talks with people from the organzation about things like church in Mexico, what people normally wear hear (AKA what I should be wearing), and just certain cultural differences between here and the United States. I also as able to go on the metro multiple times. At first it seemed… Read more >>

The Facts

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

So throughout the process of preparing to go to Mexico and work with victims of human trafficking I have been trying to learn more about the issue of human trafficking and the underground exploitive sex trade. I've been watching documentaries, reading articles and books, and looking at statistics. So I think its about time I share some of these things with you all. I share these not to scare you or make the world seem like a worse place, but to make us more informed on the issue so that we can do soemthing about it.  So lets start globally.  The International Labour Organization… Read more >>
