My Letter to Future Goers

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

Dear future goer,   My two years in Mexico were the best two years of my life. This may sound like an exaggeration, but it in no ways is. They were also the most challenging two years, and I wouldn't have it any other way.   If you're anything like me, right now you are a bundle of nerves. Both nervous and excited or what's to come. The confident assurance that this is where you’re being called too, wherever that is, comes with waves of uncertainty in the pit of your stomach. This kind of decision comes with all sorts of emotions. I only have one suggestion: FEEL THEM. As… Read more >>

Coming Back

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

Now that I’ve been home for a couple of days, I thought I’d sit down and write a quick update about coming home. Here’s what was going on before coming back: The girls were on summer break in the refuge, so that meant a little bit more of a relaxed schedule as far as my workshops and classes goes. We had multiple teams come and visit, the girls were able to get away for a few days with the staff and they had a great time, and I was able to do some things I really wanted to do with them. I was still leading the exercise classes every week, when they didn’t have people visiting or other fun… Read more >>

Emotional Roller Coaster

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

This past week was an emotional roller coaster. As some of you know, I just got back from spending ten days in the states for a friend’s wedding. It was such an incredible week. It started out by seeing the most amazing Taylor Swift concert in my favorite city, and ended with being a bridesmaid in an absolutely gorgeous wedding.  I am so excited and happy for Cara and Nick as they start this new journey together as husband and wife. Their love for each other is just so evident and beautiful. As you may also know, I’m planning to come back to the states in a couple of months for good.… Read more >>

Honduras 2018

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

If you didn't know, I just got back from participating in a missions trip to Honduras over Holy Week! Honduras 2018 was a ride. Honestly going into it, I wasn’t really feeling that prepared and didn’t know what to expect from the trip. We had a plan, I had written my sermons, we had prayed a lot as a team and individually but I felt like I was kinda along for the ride. Needless to say, God worked in unexpected ways, as he tends to do when you don’t know what expectations to put on him. First off, Honduras is a beautiful country. We were in part of the country that is in a valley and… Read more >>

Happy International Women's Day!

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Latin America

Happy International Women's Day!!!! International Women’s Day isn’t something I really celebrated, or even remember hearing of before coming to Mexico. But, this morning I was reflecting on what this day means for me, doing what I do (and being a woman). I spend almost every day either preparing lessons, activities, and information for or actually working with and pouring into young girls who have been marginalized, abused, victimized, and taken advantage of. To the most extreme degree, they were seen as nothing more than a product to sell. This day is about a lot more than celebrating the… Read more >>
