What sound does the letter "D" make?

By on Track: Teaching Region: Asia - South East

I use to get mad or fight with my mom when I had to meet with my reading tutor.  I really struggled when it was time to learn to read. Eventually, after lots of tests, they said I had a learning disability. Reading and spelling are challenging for me.   "And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against This Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, And he man of war from his youth." Both my family and my church accepted me as I was. They worked with me and taught me to value education despite my disability. Their support helped me succeed in high… Read more >>

Gifts from Women's Bible Study

By on Track: Teaching Region: Asia - South East

As I headed off to meet my discipler (I was taking public transportation that day), I pulled out my new book praying the Bible into Your Life.  My Mom, Betty Lou Who's Women's Bible Study sent me a care package that Justin hand carried here.  Inside were many goodies: some for my tummy and some for my soul, including this book.  That day I read both the quotes below and prayed: "THE LORD REPAY YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE, AND A FULL REWARD BE GIVEN YOU BY THE LORD, THE GOD OF ISRAEL, UNDER WHOSE WINGS YOU HAVE COME TO TAKE REFUGE."… Read more >>

If you read my June Newsletter, you know I shared three highlights about my time with my brother Justin who visited me for almost 3 weeks and shared an awesome adventure with me in the Philippines and Thailand.  The highlights included the Avilon Zoo where I fed a giraffe which has been my favorite animal since kindergarten, Elephant World where we spent all day working for 20 lucky elephants who have been rescued from abuse in Thailand and get to roam free with humans, and finally Taal which is a volcano inside a lake inside a volcano… Read more >>

Strangers Connect Through Prayer.

By on Track: Teaching Region: Asia - South East

My dad sent me an email about my taxes.  Fun?  Not really but it needs to get done and used something boring, and can make into the blessing.  This was part of the email he sent.  “The nice lady Elma who helped me today ask about what you were doing and we got talking about missions.   As I left she said she was adding you to her prayer list.” That is amazing, this email came right around preparation for camp, and just feeling a little stress with things that was going on round here.  You think being on summer vacation, I would have more time to just… Read more >>

Happy Easter

By on Track: Teaching Region: Asia - South East

I went to church Friday night, which was not unusual because it was Good Friday.  I started the day feeling alone and ended the day feeling blessed.  Something that often happens to me.  How I went from one to 3 attending the evening service is a "God sighting" worth sharing.   Easter here is different.  Entire roads are shut down in order for floats to pass through the streets telling the story of Christ's death and resurrection.  But that is a whole other blog.  Long story short, to avoid… Read more >>
