Learning to Crawl

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

There are a couple of reasons I have titled this post “learning to crawl.” The first reason being… I have realized that here, I am a like a child. I am basically dependent on Anya (the best translator in the world who is patient and so gracious to me with all my questions), I can’t order my own food at a restaurant, I basically only know how to get from my apartment to the office and vice versa. You get the picture? Learning is going slow, it is like learning to crawl, then walk, then talk! (Ugh!) But the second reason is that being here, I need to learn how to slow down. Not because… Read more >>

Time and Stress

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

Everyone is typically familiar with the passage in Ecclesiastes chapter 3 where “a time for everything” is described. There really is a time for everything. The theme of “time” has been very evident in my life lately. As I sit here and write this I have 30 days until I leave for Ukraine, so my “time” is running out, right? No, that’s not right. My time isn’t running out, I may only have 30 days left at home, but when I leave, my home will still be my home, my family will still be my family, my friends will still be my friends, and even more importantly- God will still be God. This is a life lesson I have been learning for a long time, but sometimes I forget. I look at deadlines, I make lists so I can cross things off, I calculate numbers, and I forget to breathe. For 2 hours we could not talk to anyone we just all went our own ways and spent some quiet time with God. How often do you do this? How often have I done this? MAYBE I’ve done it once or twice before, but I have never made it a… Read more >>

God is Bigger...

...Than the Boogie Man! If you don't get that reference to Veggie Tales.. you really should try to watch an episode. If you don't know what Veggie Tales is, well basically it is a children's cartoon of talking and singing vegetables that tell Bible stories, pretty creative!  Any ways, I just wanted to update people so that they can know where I am at, what I am up to, and so on. Right now, I am preparing for training and I have homework assignments that I have been working on to help me prepare for it. Yeah, you read that correctly... I have homework! I thought it would end when I… Read more >>

Challenge Accepted!

By on Track: Compassion - Justice Region: Europe

Hey there! My name is Julie, it's nice to meet you (kind of?)! I'll tell you a little bit about myself: I recently graduated from Messiah College with a degree in Psychology, I am from the Boston area (so I pahk my cah), and if I could be amazing at anything in the whole world, it would be critiquing music. I could ramble on all day trying to make you laugh, but let's be real, you don't want to hear that just yet...I will tell you what you want to hear though: I am going to Ukraine! I am so excited for this amazing opportunity to serve God and others in Ukraine! I will be working with… Read more >>
