New Living ArrangementsAt the beginning of October I moved into a tempat kos. A kos is a room and boarding house for university students. There are probably hundreds of them around the city. Luckily for me my former homestay owns one right in their backyard. Since I already knew all of the girls I felt comfortable moving in as soon as there was an empty room.
The first few weeks were a little rough. Everything I from what I ate to the way I swept my floor was considered strange or wrong. After a few weeks my “weirdness” became a normality and since then we have all been able to live together…

Hi Family!
Please forgive me for the length of time that has past since the last newsletter I sent out. Can you believe it has already been 6 weeks since I left home and landed in South East Asia? I know I can’t believe it’s ONLY been 6 weeks! Thus far my time has been filled with meeting fantastic people, learning the language, and going to weddings. That’s right! It’s already been 5.5 months in this beautiful city, and believe it or not I am still enjoying my life here. However, my enjoyment no longer comes from the season of honeymooning and bliss. On the contrary I’m finding enjoyment - rather I am finding joy - in the struggles with language, long motorbike rides, being able to slip through the cracks (because I look local), and sharing my testimonies of the Father’s faithfulness in my life.
I will admit there have been moments when I feel a bit homesick. Thinking about all the things that…

Today, April 3, marks 4 months here!! It’s really funny, this macaroni life. The longer I’m here the more I understand why the Father wanted me to come. At the same time I am reminded of how small I am and just how magnificent, mighty, and awesome my heavenly Father is. With each passing day my eyes are opened to see how God sees our Cousins in SEA. As the Father allows me to see how his heart breaks my spirit becomes more sensitive to his plans.
Thus far my life here has been a constant reassurance that this is where I am supposed to be for this season of my life. Whether I’m having a…

So many wonderful things have been happening in my SEA life! This update could get a little lengthy so, if you can, bear with me until the end :)
ThailandEvery year my organization holds a gathering in Thailand for all the workers in this field. To be completely honest I really did not want to go. For 3 months this gathering was just a bunch of emails flooding into my inbox from a bunch of people I had never met before. Besides that, there were some activities happening in my city I really wanted to attend. But since I was required to go, I reluctantly bought my plane tickets and went…
