So many wonderful things have been happening in my SEA life! This update could get a little lengthy so, if you can, bear with me until the end :)
Thailand
Every year my organization holds a gathering in Thailand for all the workers in this field. To be completely honest I really did not want to go. For 3 months this gathering was just a bunch of emails flooding into my inbox from a bunch of people I had never met before. Besides that, there were some activities happening in my city I really wanted to attend. But since I was required to go, I reluctantly bought my plane tickets and went anyhow.
Within a few hours of my being there I understood why everyone talks about and loves this gathering so much. It was a time where lots of people from different parts of the world, who are serving in the same region of the world, could come together and just be. I did not realize the toll constantly securing your identity and intentionally fostering God-versations can take until I had the chance to talk openly about my experiences with people who know exactly how I feel.
Personally, I feel this gathering was an unexpected blessing for so many reasons. For one, I did not realize how much I missed corporate worship. Second, there was a lot of healing and heart-work that took place. And lastly I was able to meet with some other single ladies, who I am now hoping to spend Christmas with.
Lesson in this: If your reaction to reluctancy is always negativity you might miss out on your positive
