Happy Easter

By on Track: Medical Region: Africa - Sub-Saharan

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4 Happy Easter! I know I’m a day or two late in sending that greeting but I was blessed to spend Easter away from “civilization”, i.e. internet service, with my precious extended church family here in Gambia. The church held its annual Easter camp this past weekend and we were blessed to witness the baptism of 18 young believers that have pledged their love for Christ and have completed a series of baptism… Read more >>

December Update

Dearest friends and family,Time moves faster and faster it seems. I can’t believe I will celebrate my second Christmas in Gambia in 2 short weeks. It seems unreal. While pulling out my Christmas music to get in the mood, I stumbled across an old Steven Curtis Chapman Christmas CD. The first track is his adopted daughter Shaoey sharing the Christmas story from Luke. I found myself nearly in tears. I remember my grandfather always crying as he read the Christmas story to us. I didn’t understand then and I can’t explain now the depth of joy I felt as I listened to the Christmas story this year.… Read more >>

My dear friends and family, Do you ever feel like you are barely treading water when it comes to life? Like, you don’t even try to get ahead anymore, you’re just trying not to drown. The past few weeks have been that way for me. I’ve struggled with communication with my teammates, struggled to deal with my workload and all my responsibilities here, struggled to get out of bed early enough to spend 15 minutes with God before starting the day and struggled to continue to accept God’s sovereignty. It’s not easy to see children suffer from malnutrition but it’s so exciting to see them recover and… Read more >>

September Update

Hello again! Greetings from West Africa, land of friendly faces, beautiful landscapes, and the most recent outbreak of Ebola. As I’m sure most of you have heard, it doesn’t look like the outbreak is slowing down at all and claiming more lives every day. However, it seems to be moving more to the south than to the north. Gambia is north of the affected area so I want to let you all know that I am very safe from Ebola at the moment. While I don’t make light of the situation, there are many other diseases and viruses that I have a much higher risk of getting than Ebola. Just last month I thought… Read more >>

August Update

Things have slowed down here and I’ve settled into routine again. I have to ask for your prayers, however, as I have been quite sick the past week. I’ve even had to take a couple days off of work because I was too sick to leave the house. I’m beginning to recover but I desire your prayers for a quick, complete recovery. We’re in the midst of the rainy season and I’ve enjoyed hearing the rain on our tin roofs and seeing everything go from a dusty brown color to deep greens. However, with every good rain, my entire yard floods and water stands as high as my ankles in some places. Now, I’m ok… Read more >>
